Eileen Shields (born 1969or1970) [1] is a footwear designer and owner of the EILEEN SHIELDS label and the Dublin-based store/gallery "5 Scarlet Row". [2] Shields's shoe designs have been worn by a number of celebrities, including Eva Longoria's character on Desperate Housewives . [3] Shields has made custom shoes for Bono, [1] Halle Berry, [4] Eva Longoria, [1] Courteney Cox Arquette, [1] and Drew Barrymore. [2]

Early and personal life

Shields is the youngest of five siblings born to a mother who worked as a nurse and a food-industry executive father. [5] Born in New York to Irish parents, she moved to Dublin with her family when she was two. [6] Her brothers are musicians Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine, [4] and Jimi Shields known for his work in Rollerskate Skinny. Her two sisters work in the music industry and education.[ citation needed ]

Shields is married to artist Mark Orange. [4] They have two sons. [4]

Early career

After graduating from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin with a Bachelor of Arts degree, [1] Shields moved to New York in 1988 to begin her design career. She took classes at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and went to work as a show designer for Anne Klein. [6] Shields later worked for Donna Karan and was involved with launching the DKNY footwear line. [4]

Label and collection

The EILEEN SHIELDS label was launched in February 2004, [7] and she went on to open her own store and gallery, "5 Scarlet Row" near Essex Street West in Dublin in September 2004. [1] [8] This store sells the EILEEN SHIELDS collection alongside clothes and accessories by other designers, including Eley Kishimoto, Sharon Wauchob, Collection Privée, Zero Maria Cornejo, VPL (Visible Panty Line), Helen James and UNIS.[ citation needed ] Shields' collections are also sold online and at retail stores in the US, Europe, and Asia. Her work was also part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1928 Summer Olympics.

He has partnered with other organizations for projects including limited edition pieces, gallery exhibits, and a custom bar. His company has since branched out into men's luxury footwear, handbags, fragrances, and makeup.

Ladies' Gaelic football is an Irish team sport for women. It is the women's equivalent of Gaelic football. Ladies' football is organised by the Ladies' Gaelic Football Association. Two teams of 15 players kick or hand-pass a round ball towards goals at each end of a grass pitch. The sport is an all island sport played in all 4 provinces of Ireland, where the two main competitions are the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship and the Ladies' National Football League. Both competitions feature teams representing the traditional Gaelic games counties. The 2017 All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship final was the best attended women's sports final of 2017. The 2019 final, after the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Final, was the second largest attendance at any women's sporting final during 2019. Historically Cork and Kerry have been the sport's most successful counties. Waterford, Monaghan and Mayo have also experienced spells of success. In more recent years, 2017 to 2020, Dublin have been the dominant team.

Nanette Lepore is an American fashion designer based in New York City. New York magazine has said that "her gypsy-influenced designs are feminine and youthful. The looks are full of bold colors and bright prints, with ruffles and lace that manage to look good-time-girly but not overly frilly."

Rena Buckley is an Irish sportswoman who played at senior level for both the Cork county ladies' football team and the Cork county camogie team. She has also represented Munster in the Gael Linn Cup and Ireland at international rules. Between 2005 and 2017 she won 18 All-Ireland winners medals - the most All-Ireland senior medals any one person has ever won - making her one of the most decorated sportspeople in Gaelic games. In 2012 she captained Cork when they won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship and in 2017 she captained Cork when they won the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship. Sophie Spence is a former Ireland women's rugby union international. Spence represented Ireland at the 2014 and 2017 Women's Rugby World Cups. Spence was a member of the first Ireland teams to defeat England and New Zealand. She was also a member of the Ireland teams that won the 2013 and 2015 Women's Six Nations Championships. Spence is a British Nigerian who qualified to represent Ireland through her mother, who was originally from Lisburn, County Antrim.

Siobhán Killeen is a Republic of Ireland women's international footballer. She has also played for UCD, Raheny United and Shelbourne Ladies. Simone Rocha is an Irish fashion designer. Her father is a fashion designer John Rocha, and mother is Odette Rocha. She trained at the National College of Art and Design,Dublin with a BA in Fashion. She then furthered her studies in Central Saint Martins,London graduating with a MA in Fashion. She launched her graduate collection in 2010 at the Tate Modern and in London Fashion Week. She was named Young Designer of the Year in 2014 by Harper's Bazaar, and Womenswear Designer of the Year 2016 at the British Fashion Awards. Simone has been able to expand to having four stores in locations such as New York, London and Taiwan showcasing her furniture and hand-made sculptures.

Megan Frazer is an Ireland women's field hockey international. She was a member of the Ireland team that played in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup. She has also captained the Ireland team. Frazer was a member of the Maryland Terrapins team that won the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships. Between 2010 and 2012 she was named three times as an NFHCA All-American and in 2011 she also won the Honda Sports Award. Frazer has also won Irish Senior Cup titles with Ulster Elks.

Sinéad Aherne is a senior Dublin ladies' footballer. In 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, she captained Dublin as they won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship. In 2010, when Dublin won their first All-Ireland title, she was both player of the match and the top scorer in the final with 2–7. She also captained Dublin when they won the 2018 Ladies' National Football League. In 2018 she was named the TG4 Senior Player's Player of the Year and received her seventh All Star award. She has also represented Ireland at international rules.

Sinéad Goldrick is an Irish dual code footballer, playing at the highest level in both Gaelic football and Australian rules football. She captained Dublin ladies in the 2014 All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship final and was a member of the Dublin teams that won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship in 2017, 2018 and 2019. She was also a member of the Dublin team that won the 2018 Ladies' National Football League. In 2019 she won her seventh All Star award. During the 2010s she was also a prominent member of the Foxrock–Cabinteely team that won Dublin and Leinster titles and played in All-Ireland finals. In October 2019 it was announced that Goldrick has agreed to play for Melbourne Football Club of the AFLW in 2020 and she won a premiership with the club in 2022.

Lyndsey Davey is a senior Dublin ladies' footballer. She was a member of the Dublin teams that won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship in 2010, 2017, 2018 and 2019. She captained Dublin in 2015. She was also a member of the Dublin team that won the 2018 Ladies' National Football League. In 2019 she received her fifth All Star award. She won her first All Star in 2005 at the age of 15.
