Early life

Elan was making short films since he finished his schooling in 2007. [2]

Personal life

Elan is the son of Stills Pandian, a photographer. [3]

Career

After completing a love story script, he began working on the next one without reaching out to producers. By chance, a friend of Yuvan Shankar Raja asked if he had any romance scripts, leading to Elan's debut directorial, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (2018). [2] In celebration of Pyaar Prema Kaadhal 's success, Yuvan Shankar Raja gifted Elan a luxury car. [4] The film was later remade in Hindi as Urvasivo Rakshasivo (2022). [5] After the collaboration on Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (2018) with Harish Kalyan, Elan was reported to collaborate with Harish again for his next directorial in 2019. [6] In August 2023, Kavin, was reported to replace Harish for the lead role and the principal photography began on 1 June 2023 in Chennai. [7] [8] In an interview, Elan stated that "Vaaranam Aayiram was one of my biggest inspirations to make Star." and that it was a tribute to his late father. [9]

Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by Elan in his directorial debut, and produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja, under the banner YSR Films, who also composed music for the film. Co-produced by S. N. Rajarajan under the banner K Productions. The film stars Harish Kalyan and debutant Raiza Wilson. The film marked the first project of both the lead actors, after rising to fame from the television series Bigg Boss Tamil. Anand Babu, Pandian, Rekha, Ramadoss and Subbu Panchu appear in supporting roles. The film's cinematography was handled by Raja Bhattacharjee, with editing done by S. Manikumaran. The film was launched in December 2017, along with the commencement of principal photography, and was completed in June 2018. The film was released on 10 August 2018, to a positive response from the audience as well as critics, praising the lead actors' performances, the screenplay, and the film's soundtrack. The film became a commercial success. The film won two Filmfare Awards South and two SIIMA Awards, including the Best Debut Actress Award for Raiza in both ceremonies.

The film follows Kalai, a youngster, who pursues his dream of becoming an actor but goes through various obstacles.

Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is the soundtrack to the 2018 film of the same name directed by debutant Elan, starring Harish Kalyan and Raiza Wilson. The soundtrack to the film features 12 songs composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja with lyrics written by Niranjan Bharathi, Vivek, Madhan Karky, Mohan Rajan, Oviya Oompathy and Elan himself. It was preceded with two singles: "High On Love" and "Dope Track", before the full album being released through Yuvan's music label U1 Records and Divo on 29 July 2018.
