A musical ensemble, also known as a music group or musical group, is a group of people who perform instrumental and/or vocal music, with the ensemble typically known by a distinct name. Some music ensembles consist solely of instrumentalists, such as the jazz quartet or the orchestra. Other music ensembles consist solely of singers, such as choirs and doo-wop groups. In both popular music and classical music, there are ensembles in which both instrumentalists and singers perform, such as the rock band or the Baroque chamber group for basso continuo and one or more singers. In classical music, trios or quartets either blend the sounds of musical instrument families or group instruments from the same instrument family, such as string ensembles or wind ensembles. Some ensembles blend the sounds of a variety of instrument families, such as the orchestra, which uses a string section, brass instruments, woodwinds, and percussion instruments, or the concert band, which uses brass, woodwinds, and percussion.
In music, a quartet is an ensemble of four singers or instrumental performers.
VNV Nation is an Irish electronic music group led by Ronan Harris in the roles of singer, songwriter and producer, with live members being keyboardists Mike Wimer and David Gerlach and percussionist Chris Roberts. The acronym in the group's name stands for "Victory Not Vengeance".
A number of heavy metal genres have developed since the emergence of heavy metal during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Solefald is a Norwegian avant-garde metal/black metal band that was formed by members Lars Are "Lazare" Nedland and Cornelius Jakhelln in August 1995, with Nedland singing and playing keyboard/synthesizer/piano and drums, and Jakhelln singing and playing guitar and bass. The duo experiment with a wide array of musical styles, frequently work on other projects, and rarely perform live under the Solefald name, leading them to describe themselves as "two stubborn goats pretending to be a band." According to the duo, their name is an Old Norse word for "sunset," taken from one of Theodor Kittelsen's paintings illustrating a poem of the same name by Theodor Caspari, published in the 1901 book Vintereventyr.
Neue Deutsche Härte, sometimes abbreviated as NDH, is a subgenre of rock music that developed in Germany and Austria during the early-to-mid 1990s and early 2000s. Alluding to the style of Neue Deutsche Welle, the term was coined by the music press after the 1995 release of the German rock and metal band Rammstein's first studio album Herzeleid.
Les Ténèbres du Dehors is an album by neoclassical band Elend. It is the second in the Officium Tenebrarum trilogy.
Weeping Nights is the third album by neoclassical band Elend. Although released before The Umbersun, it is not a part of the Officium Tenebrarum trilogy. The album contains three original songs, and six remixes of songs from their previous album, Les Ténèbres du Dehors. The remixed tracks are virtually exactly the same as on Les Ténèbres du Dehors, only all male vocals have been removed. The only two tracks from the previous album which do not appear here are "The Silence of Light" and "Antienne", presumably because they had no male vocals to begin with and because of limited space on the CD.
The Umbersun is the fourth album by neoclassical band Elend. It is the third and final album in the Officium Tenebrarum trilogy.
Winds Devouring Men is the fifth album by neoclassical band Elend. It is the first album in the Winds Cycle trilogy. The special edition was released in a digipak with a bonus track called "Silent Slumber: A God That Breeds Pestilence".

Chaostar is a classical, opera and vocal orchestra from Greece started in 1998, composed of Christos Antoniou, Spiros Antoniou, Sotiris Vayenas, Nathalie Rassoulis, and Sapfo Stavridou. Several of the members are also members of Septicflesh. They have released four albums on Holy Records, a label with notable artists such as Elend, Orphaned Land, and Septicflesh.
