Elham Al Qasim (born July 1982, in Dubai) is an Emirati woman, who embarked on a successful skiing expedition to the North Poleunsupported and unassisted” (two terms used in polar expeditions, denoting use of natural means and without any kind of assistance). On April 23, 2010, she became the first Arab woman and the first female UAE national to reach the North Pole. [1] [2]

Before embarking on the journey, Elham went through an intensive workout to build up her mental and physical strength and develop the required stamina. The training program was laid down by Lomax with the main objective being an overall improvement in her strength, agility, and speed. [4]

Human rights in Dubai are based on the Constitution and enacted law, which supposedly promise equitable treatment of all people, regardless of race, nationality or social status, per Article 25 of the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates. Despite this, Freedom House has stated: "Extreme forms of self-censorship are widely practiced, particularly regarding issues such as local politics, culture, religion, or any other subject the government deems politically or culturally sensitive. According to Human Rights Watch, there is substantial discrimination against women in the United Arab Emirates. The status of women has improved over the years. UAE performs better on metrics of gender equality than many other states in the Gulf region, and it has been making reforms to protect women's rights and empower women in different sectors. However, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a report in 2021 confirming that the UAE needs to put more effort into improving women's status in the UAE and achieving progress on women's rights. It is estimated that in 2020, 3 million of the total UAE population – 9.9 million – is female.

Provision of education in the UAE began shortly after the establishment of the federation with the inception of the first university in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates University. Since then, the country has progressed with efforts of ensuring high literacy rates, modern programs and women's share in education. It works on improving its youths education which is why the agenda 2021 has been set. The UAE currently devotes approximately 25 percent of total federal government spending to education. As of 2019, the overall literacy rate is 96%.

Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is a karate, taekwondo, polo athlete and Sheikha of Dubai. She was the first woman from UAE to represent the country in the Olympics in 2008.

Namira Salim born in Karachi, is a Pakistani polar adventurer, future astronaut and artist based in Monaco and Dubai. On the recommendation of the Pakistani government, she was in 2011 appointed as an honorary consul of Pakistan to Monaco, following her efforts to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries. She is the first Pakistani to have reached both the North Pole and the South Pole. Most expatriates in the United Arab Emirates reside in Dubai and the capital, Abu Dhabi. A number of immigrants settled in the country prior to independence. The UAE is home to over 200 nationalities. Emiratis constitute roughly 10% of the total population, making the UAE home to one of the world's highest percentage of expatriates. Indians and Pakistanis form the largest expatriate groups in the country, constituting 28% and 12% of the total population respectively. Around 510,000 Westerners live in the United Arab Emirates, making up 5.1% of its total population.

The legal system of the United Arab Emirates is based on the civil law system with influences from Islamic, French, Roman and Egyptian laws.

Previously, he was the UAE's youngest F-16 fighter pilot. On 25 September 2019, he launched aboard the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft to the International Space Station, where he stayed for eight days. He landed safely in Kazakhstan, on 3 October 2019 aboard Soyuz MS-12 completing the United Arab Emirates first astronaut mission.

Fatima Deryan is a Kuwaiti-born Lebanese mountaineer and activist, who currently lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She is the first Lebanese woman to summit the Mount Everest which she achieved it in 2019. A year which marked many deadliest Mount Everest expeditions.

Dolores Al Shelleh is an Emirati-based Jordanian-Serbian mountaineer and ESG Activist who currently lives in Dubai, UAE. She was the first woman from Jordan to summit the Mount Everest, which she achieved in 2019, a year which marked many deadly Mount Everest expeditions.
