The Eliezah Foundation Initiative is a nonprofit organisation based in Wakiso District, Uganda. [2] The Organisation supports and invests (pursuing its "Equality" strategy) in Women safety and social entrepreneurship through its Women First Approach, and through partnerships with and support of organizations and agencies important to Women’s Growth And Development. It provides opportunities for women to meet with each other (its "Community Engagement" strategy) through support of events including the Periodic Community Dialogues on Gender And Safety at Community Level, convenings, and Training Workshops. It also conducts local media campaigns (the "Localisation" strategy) to publicize women interventions to end violence through projects such as Emergency GBV Services and HIV partnerships with other local and international Partners, including ViiV Healthcare, Cultural Leaders from Buganda, Bunyoro, and Busoga Kingdoms, Local Media, local government in Uganda, and Government Departments. Its founder is Eliezah Titus Busonga who is now working as the Chief Executive Of Real Health Uganda. [3]

History

Eliezah Titus created the foundation in 2005 as a Young Peoples organization to fight and advocate for Human and women’s rights in the Community of Maganjo (now Nansana Municipality). [4] In late 2009 Eliezah Registered the Foundation with the District Local government and Opened Up A Permanent Office in where the Organisation Resides Now. In 2018, The Eliezah Foundation registered and acquired the 501 (c) Status in Uganda. [5] In July 2020, Janet Nansamba was appointed as the new CEO of the Eliezah Foundation. She had formerly served as the Masaka District local government Women Empowerment Officer and the Secretary General Of Eliezah Foundation. [6]

Women in Uganda have substantial economic and social responsibilities throughout Uganda's many traditional societies. Ugandan women come from a range of economic and educational backgrounds. Despite economic and social progress throughout the country, domestic violence and sexual assault remain prevalent issues in Uganda. However, illiteracy is directly correlated to increased level of domestic violence. This is mainly because household members can not make proper decisions that directly affect their future plans. Government reports suggest rising levels of domestic violence toward women that are directly attributable to poverty.

Bees for Development is an international charity working to alleviate poverty through beekeeping. Beekeeping contributes to supporting sustainable livelihoods in poor and remote communities; honey bees provide an essential ecosystem service. Bees for Development currently runs projects in Uganda, Zanzibar, Ethiopia and Kyrgyzstan. Its offices are in Monmouth, South Wales.

Rosemary Bikaako Tumusiime is a Ugandan marketing professional, public administrator, feminist and politician. She is the elected Member of Parliament for Entebbe Municipality and is a representative for NRM, the ruling political party in Uganda. She is the first female representative for the constituency in over three decades and succeeded Muhammad Kawuma who served for two consecutive terms from 2006 to 2016. Robert Kasule Sebunya is a Ugandan politician who was born on 25 January 1970 to Israel Kibirige Ssebunya. He is a member of the National Reisistance Movement (NRM), the ruling party, and the current Member of Parliament of Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District.
