Ella Jay Basco (born September 17, 2006) is an American actress best known for her work in Birds of Prey (2020). [2] In 2020, she released an EP, Middle School. [3] In February 2022, she released her single Eye to Eye for her upcoming album. [4]

Early life

Basco was born in Los Angeles and is of Filipino and Korean ancestry. She is the second of four children. [1] She is the niece of actors Dion and Dante Basco. [5]

Career

Basco started her career when she was six months old with a print advertisement for Old Navy. After making numerous commercials and television appearances, Ella Jay Basco landed her first film role in the 2020 film Birds of Prey as Cassandra Cain. [6] [7] [8] Basco released her first EP named Middle School, it includes the song The Ballad of Cassandra Cain. [9] In 2022, she released songs such as Eye to Eye and Bubble Tea [10]

The Birds of Prey is a superhero team featured in several American comic book series, miniseries, and special editions published by DC Comics since 1996. The book's premise originated as a partnership between Black Canary and Barbara Gordon, who had adopted the codename Oracle at the time, but has expanded to include additional superheroines. The team name "Birds of Prey" was attributed to DC assistant editor Frank Pittarese in the text page of the first issue. The group is initially based in Gotham City and later operates in Metropolis and then relocates once more to "Platinum Flats", California, a new locale introduced in Birds of Prey in 2008.

A Friend of the Family is an American drama miniseries. Based on true events, it follows Robert Berchtold, a close friend of the Broberg family, who kidnaps Jan Broberg twice over a period of two years. It consists of nine episodes and premiered on Peacock on October 6, 2022. The events depicted in the series were previously covered in the 2017 documentary Abducted in Plain Sight.
