Ellen Benediktson (born 25 April 1995 in Limhamn) is a Swedish singer and songwriter best known for taking part in Melodifestivalen 2014, 2015 and 2020.

Life and career

In 2013 Benediktson first garnered attention when she was the stand-in singer during the rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 singing France's entry "L'enfer et moi". [1] The next year, she took part in Melodifestivalen 2014 with the song "Songbird". [2] [3] Benediktson placed second in the semi-final, thus making it to the final, where she placed seventh. [4] In April 2014, Benediktson released the song "When the Sun Comes Up" as a part of a compilation album associated with the Swedish feminist political party Feminist Initiative, she is also a supporter of the left-wing party. [5] She competed in Melodifestivalen 2015 with the song "Insomnia". [6] She came 5th in Semi-final 3 and was therefore knocked out of the competition. She competed in Melodifestivalen 2020 alongside Simon Peyron with the song, "Surface". They made it to the Second Chance round.

    Melodifestivalen is an annual song competition organised by Swedish public broadcasters Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Radio (SR).     Måns Petter Albert Sahlén Zelmerlöw is a Swedish singer and television presenter. He took part in Idol 2005, eventually finishing fifth, won the first season of Let's Dance, and scored a hit with his 2007 song "Cara Mia", which was his entry in that year's Melodifestivalen. Zelmerlöw was the host of Allsång på Skansen from 2011 to 2013. He participated in Melodifestivalen in 2007, 2009 and won in 2015. The Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) organised the national final Melodifestivalen 2014 in order to select the Swedish entry for the 2014 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark.     Melodifestivalen 2022 was the 62nd edition of the Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen, which was organised by Sveriges Television (SVT) and took place over a six-week period between 5 February and 12 March 2022. The winner of the competition was Cornelia Jakobs with the song "Hold Me Closer", who represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, where she came fourth with 438 points. All shows were hosted by Oscar Zia.

At Eurovision, Jakobs performed 17th of the 18 acts in the second semi-final, where she qualified for the grand final. In the grand final, she performed 20th of 25th acts and finished in fourth place in the Eurovision grand final with 438 points.
