Poldark was a series of historical novels by Winston Graham, that was published from 1945 to 1953 and continued from 1973 to 2002, beginning with the first novel entitled of the eponymous protagonist Ross Poldark, was named for the protagonist of the series. The novel series was adapted for television by the BBC in 1975 and again in 2015.

It is set in an alternative world in which magic is real, but has become weakened and is also being replaced by modern technology. The setting is almost like modern Britain, except that it is split into a number of small counties. Those counties reference modern-day geography.
Poldark is a British historical drama television series created and written by Debbie Horsfield and based on the novel series of the same name by Winston Graham. It aired on BBC One for five series from 8 March 2015 – 26 August 2019, adapting the first seven of the twelve novels in the series, which were previously adapted by the 1975–1977 BBC television series. Set between 1781 and 1801, it stars Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark, a British Army veteran of the American Revolutionary War, who returns to his home in Cornwall to find that his father has died, leaving his estate in ruins. The series follows his efforts to rebuild his fortune with the aid of his maid-turned-wife Demelza and his relationships with his cousin Elizabeth Poldark and rival George Warleggan.

Young Wallander is a crime drama television series, based on Henning Mankell's fictional Inspector Kurt Wallander. The series premiered on Netflix on 3 September 2020. Star Adam Pålsson explained that the pre-imagining made more sense than a straight prequel, as it allowed for the social commentary which is a strong element of Mankell's original Wallander. This choice of setting the series in the modern day has been criticised in a number of reviews.
The Black Moon is the fifth of twelve novels in Poldark, a series of historical novels by Winston Graham. After an 18-year hiatus from the Cornwall novels, it was published in 1973. While Ward Lock published the first four novels in the series, publishing house Collins took over the reins with the fifth entry.
