The Eluru Urban Development Authority (EUDA) is an urban planning agency in West Godavari district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. [1] [2] It was constituted on 1 January 2019, under Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authority Act, 2016 with the headquarters located at Eluru. [3]

Jurisdiction

The jurisdictional area of EUDA is spread over an area of 3,327.99 km2 (1,284.94 sq mi). [3] It covers 463 villages in 35 mandals of West Godavari district. The below table lists the urban areas of EUDA.

It is the fifth most populated city in the state. During British rule, the district of Rajahmundry was created in the Madras Presidency in 1823. It was reorganised in 1859 and bifurcated into the Godavari and Krishna districts. Rajahmundry was the headquarters of Godavari district, which was further bifurcated into East Godavari and West Godavari districts in 1925. When the Godavari district was bifurcated, Kakinada became the headquarters of East Godavari and Eluru the headquarters of West Godavari. It is administered under Rajahmundry revenue division of the East Godavari district. The city is known for its floriculture, history, culture, agriculture, economy, tourism, and its heritage. It is known as the "Cultural Capital of Andhra Pradesh".

National Waterway 4 (NW-4) is a 1,095 kilometres (680 mi) long waterway in India. It has been declared as an Indian National Waterway and is currently under development. It connects the Indian states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and the union territory of Puducherry. The NW-4 runs along the Coromandal Coast through Kakinada, Eluru, Commanur, Buckingham Canals and also through part of Krishna and Godavari rivers in South India. It was declared a National Waterway on 24 November 2008 under the Provisions of National Waterways Bill, 2006. It is being developed by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), and was scheduled for completion by 2013. The National Waterways Act, 2016 has extended the length of NW-4 from 1,095 km (680 mi) to 2,890 km (1,800 mi) by connecting the Krishna and Godavari Rivers. It is under the administration of Bhimavaram revenue division and the headquarters are located at Ganapavaram. Ganapavaram Mandal is bounded by Nidamarru Mandal towards west, Pentapadu Mandal towards North, Undi Mandal towards South, Unguturu Mandal towards North. Tadepalligudem, Bhimavaram, Tanuku, Eluru are the nearby Cities to Ganapavaram. It is located 55 km from Eluru and 22 km from Bhimavaram.

Lingapalem Mandal is one of 28 mandals in the Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh in India. Its headquarters are located in Lingapalem. It is bordered by T.Narasapuram and Chintalapudi in the North, Khammam district tin the West, Kamavarapukota mandal in the East, and Pedavegi mandal in the South.

With Eluru as its administrative headquarters, it was proposed on 26 January 2022 to become one of the resultant twenty six districts in the state once a final notification is issued by the government of Andhra Pradesh. It is formed from Eluru revenue division and Jangareddygudem revenue division from West Godavari district and Nuzvid revenue division from Krishna district.
