Elwood F.EdHolton III is the Jones S. Davis Distinguished Professor of Human Resource, Leadership, and Organization Development at Louisiana State University. He coordinates B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in Human Resources Education and Leadership Development. [1]
Holton also serves as Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Workforce Development at LSU, where he is leading the creation of a center for workforce studies. [2] In 2002, he was named the Outstanding Human Resource Development Scholar by the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD). In 2004, he was inducted into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame for his significant contributions to the field.
His research centers on workforce development policy, analysis, and evaluation of organizational learning and performance systems. He focuses on enhancing learning transfer systems, management and leadership development, and crafting HRD policy and strategy. As a Past-President and one of the 75 charter members of Academy of the Human Resource Development (AHRD), [3] he dedicated 7 years to serving on the AHRD Board of Directors.

His research has won numerous awards, including the Richard A. Swanson Research Excellence Award in 2008 from the Academy of Human Resource Development [4] and six Citations of Excellence from ANBAR Management Intelligence. [5]

Donald L. Kirkpatrick was Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin in the United States and a past president of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD). He is best known for creating a highly influential 'four level' model for training course evaluation, which served as the subject of his Ph.D. dissertation in 1954. Kirkpatrick's ideas were published to a broader audience in 1959 in a series of articles in the US Training and Development Journal, but they are better known from a book he published in 1994 entitled Evaluating Training Programs. Other books that he has written on training evaluation include Transferring Learning to Behavior and Implementing the Four Levels. His work is carried on by his eldest son, Dr. Jim Kirkpatrick, and Wendy Kayser Kirkpatrick, and Vanessa Alzate.

The term managerial assessment of proficiency (MAP) describes a methodology for the assessment of managerial competence in human resource and training applications. MAP is designed for evaluation of a manager's proficiency in 12 prescribed competencies, and other criteria. Human Resource Development Review (HRDR) is an international quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal whose main goal is to promote theory and theory building in human resource development (HRD) and related fields. To accomplish the goal, HRDR seeks to publish four basic types of refereed articles: theory and conceptual articles, integrative literature reviews, theory-building research methods, and foundations of HRD.
