Emanate is the debut studio album by the French gothic metal band Penumbra, launched in 1999 originally under German label Serenades Records. [1]
Gothic metal is a fusion genre combining the heaviness of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in the United Kingdom originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. Lyrics are generally dark and introspective with inspiration from gothic fiction as well as personal experiences.
Penumbra is a gothic metal band from Paris, France and formed in 1996. Their music is characterized by using a classical mixture of female and male voices, Gregorian chants, bagpipes and other unconventional elements.
Serenades Records is a German record label based in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Stuttgart, focused on doom metal and gothic metal. Is owned by Last Episode Records.
