The Tour of Flanders, also known as De Ronde, is an annual road cycling race held in Belgium every spring. The most important cycling race in Flanders, it is part of the UCI World Tour and organized by Flanders Classics. Its nickname is Vlaanderens Mooiste. First held in 1913, the Tour of Flanders had its 100th edition in 2016.
Jean-Pierre "Jempi" Monseré was a Belgian road racing cyclist who died while champion of the world.
Patrick Sercu was a Belgian cyclist who was active on the road and track between 1961 and 1983. On track, he won the gold medal in the 1 km time trial at the 1964 Summer Olympics, as well as three world titles in the sprint in 1963, 1967 and 1969. On the road, he earned the green jersey in the 1974 Tour de France. Sercu is the record holder for the number of six-day track race victories, having won 88 events out of 223 starts between 1961 and 1983; several of these wins were with cycling great Eddy Merckx. He also won six stages at the Tour de France and eleven stages at the Giro d'Italia.
Greg Van Avermaet is a Belgian professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam AG2R Citroën Team. Considered one of the most versatile riders of modern cycling, Van Avermaet is a specialist of the classic cycle races, but has also won stages and the general classification in stage races, particularly when run on a hilly terrain, such as the 2016 Tirreno–Adriatico, and the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire. His strong sprint finish enables him to win sprints of small lead groups, but he has also won races after solo breakaways.
Albert Sercu was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. He is most known for his silver medal in the Elite race of the 1947 UCI Road World Championships. He rode in the 1947 Tour de France. He is the father of Patrick Sercu.
The 2011 season for the Veranda's Willems–Accent professional cycling team began in January at the Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise and ended in October at the Nationale Sluitingsprijs. It was the squad's fourth season as a professional cycling team, although its first as a UCI Professional Continental team; having been part of the UCI Continental Circuits since their foundation in 2008, the team acquired a Professional Continental licence following meetings of the UCI Licence Commission in November 2010.
Jonas van Genechten is a Belgian former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2009 and 2021 for the Verandas Willems (2009–2010), Wallonie Bruxelles–Crédit Agricole (2011), Lotto–Belisol (2012–2014), IAM Cycling (2015–2016), Cofidis (2017) and B&B Hotels p/b KTM (2018–2021) teams. During his professional career, he took eight victories, including the seventh stage at the 2016 Vuelta a España.

Wout van Aert is a Belgian professional road and cyclo-cross racer who rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Jumbo–Visma. Van Aert is a three-time winner of the men's race at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, having won in consecutive years in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Vérandas Willems–Crelan was a UCI Professional Continental team founded in 2013 and based in Belgium. During the winter the team is active in cyclo-cross. Former team member Michael Goolaerts died following a cardiac arrest at the 2018 Paris–Roubaix in France. In August 2018 it was announced that the team would merge with Roompot–Nederlandse Loterij for the 2019 season under the name Roompot-Crelan.
Baptiste Planckaert is a Belgian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Intermarché–Circus–Wanty. In May 2018, he was named in the startlist for the Giro d'Italia, where he finished 116th overall.

Michael Goolaerts was a Belgian cyclist who rode for Vérandas Willems–Crelan. During the 2018 Paris–Roubaix, Goolaerts suffered cardiac arrest. He was airlifted to a hospital in Lille, where he died hours later.
Emiel Planckaert is a Belgian road cyclist, who rides for Belgian amateur team Decock–Van Eyck–Van Mossel Devos–Capoen. He previously rode professionally between 2017 and 2020 for the Lotto–Soudal and Sport Vlaanderen–Baloise teams, before retiring from professional racing at the end of the 2020 season, planning to continue to compete as an amateur.
The 2018 Grote Prijs Jef Scherens was the 52nd edition of the Grote Prijs Jef Scherens road cycling one day race in and around Leuven. It was held on 16 September 2018 as a 1.1 categorised race and was part of the 2018 UCI Europe Tour and the 2018 Belgian Road Cycling Cup.
