Emilian Grigore (born circa 1957) is a former Romanian rugby union football player. He played as hooker.

Club career

Grigore played for RCJ Farul Constanța, with which he won a Masters tournament in France alongside Romeo Bezuscu, Florea Opris, Adrian Lungu and Vasile Ion. [1]

International career

Although being part of the Romania squad which toured Scotland in 1981, [2] Grigore was first capped for Romania during the 1981-82 FIRA Trophy, during the match against West Germany in Bucharest, on 30 April 1982. He was also called up for the Romania team at the 1987 Rugby World Cup, playing all the three pool stage matches, with the match against Scotland being his last cap. [3]

The first, held in 1986 and known as the "Matra Espace or Matra Masters" for sponsorship reasons, is sometimes informally referred to as the first World Club Championships due to the participants within the competition representing seven clubs and one touring side from seven countries across three continents. The second tournament, held in 1990 and referred to as the Centenary Masters, marked the centenary of the club. Toulouse were the champions of both editions. The tournaments are viewed as the precursor to the European Rugby Champions Cup, in which Toulouse were crowned the winners of the first edition in 1996.

The 2021–22 season is the 33rd professional football season in Farul Constanța's existence, and the 19th in the top-flight of Romanian football. Farul competes in Liga I and in the Cupa României.On 21 June 2021, Gheorghe Hagi, Gheorghe Popescu and Ciprian Marica announced in a press conference that their teams have merged. The club that would continue in the Liga I will be FCV Farul. Farul will play in the Liga I on Viitorul's place and its home matches will be disputed on Viitorul Stadium, due to Farul Stadium advance state of degradation.
