Emma Wortelboer (born 26 October 1996 in Deventer) is a Dutch television presenter who has worked for BNNVARA since 2015. [1] She grew up in Manderveen and went to school at Het Erasmus in Almelo. [2] Wortelboer was the Dutch spokesperson for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. [3] Her expressive reaction to the Dutch victory at the contest went viral. [4]

Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio, transmitted to national broadcasters via the EBU's Eurovision and Euroradio networks, with competing countries then casting votes for the other countries' songs to determine a winner.
The Netherlands has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 62 times since making its debut as one of the seven countries at the first contest in 1956. The country has missed only four contests, twice because the dates coincided with Remembrance of the Dead and twice because of being relegated due to poor results the previous year. The Netherlands hosted the contest in Hilversum (1958), Amsterdam (1970), twice in The Hague and Rotterdam.

The only countries with more appearances are Germany (65), France (64) and the United Kingdom (64). Belgium have been absent only three times in total, in 1994, 1997 and 2001, due to low scores in the previous contests that relegated them from the contest. Belgium has won the contest once, in 1986.

NPO 3 Extra was a Dutch digital theme channel of Dutch public broadcaster BNNVARA, which has been broadcasting since 31 October 2006. Het Grote Songfestivalfeest was a Dutch television concert programme starring artists of the Eurovision Song Contest from the past sixty-four years and a pre-event prior to the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was to be held in Rotterdam prior to its cancellation. The concert took place on 15 December 2019 at the Ziggo Dome, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Tickets were on sale via Ticketmaster. The event was produced by PilotStudio in collaboration with the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, and was broadcast on 1 January 2020.

The AI Song Contest 2020 was the inaugural edition of the AI Song Contest, organised by the Dutch public broadcaster VPRO, in collaboration with NPO 3FM and NPO Innovation. It was held on 12 May 2020 in the Netherlands and was presented by Lieven Scheire. Thirteen teams from eight countries participated in the contest. The contest was won by Uncanny Valley from Australia with the song "Beautiful the World".
