Emmanuel Ifeanyi Ikubese (born 12 August 1991) is a Nigerian model and actor who won the SilverBird male Pageant for Mr. Nigeria in 2014. [1] [2] [3] In 2015, he won the Peace Personality of the Year [4] at the Peace Achievers Awards and in 2016 won the City People Movie Award for Most Promising Actor of the Year (English) at the City People Entertainment Awards. [5] [6] Ikubese, in 2017 was appointed United Nations Millennium Development Goals Ambassador. [7] [8]

Early life and education

Ikubese is from Delta state in Nigeria, a geographical area occupied by the minority tribes in Nigeria as well as the Igbo people. Ikubuese obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate from local learning institutions within Delta state. In bid to obtain a university degree, he migrated to Kenya where he applied to United States International University Africa in Nairobi to study International Relations and eventually got accepted and obtained a B.Sc. degree upon completion of his course duration. [9]

Career

Ikubese began his career as a professional model [10] in his university’s campus and eventually was crowned Mr.Nigeria as well finishing as first Runner-up at the Mr.World male pageant. Ikubuese after his successful run as a model, ventured into the Nigerian movie industry which is known most commonly as Nollywood and gained significant recognition after he secured a role in the MTV Tv series titled Shuga where he played the role of a character named Femi. [11]

Ikubese made his directorial debut in 2019 with a Tv series titled Kyaddala which is a Ugandan word meaning “its real” when translated to the English language. [12]

Awards

Ikubese won the City People Movie Award for Most Promising Actor of the Year (English) at the City People Entertainment Awards. [6]

Ikubese won the Peace Personality of the Year at the Peace Achievers Awards. [4]

Personal life

In 2019, Ikubese got engaged to Nigerian beautician Anita Adetoye. [13] [14] [1] Ikubese in an interview with The Punch media press listed playing basketball, playing soccer and cooking as his hobbies. [15]

The term Shuga is derived from the pronunciation of "Sugar" in Kenyan English.

The third season of the television drama series Shuga, dubbed Shuga Naija, was first broadcast on MTV Base from December 2013 to January 2014. The season was written by Kemi Adesoye and directed by Biyi Bandele. It starred Tiwa Savage, Chris Attoh, Maria Okanrende, Emmanuel Ikubese, Sharon Ezeamaka, Efa Iwara, Dorcas Shola Fapson, Okezie Morro, Timini Egbuson, Kachi Nnochiri, Sanni Mu'azu and Leonora Okine. Shuga Naija is a multimedia campaign which educates youths on HIV, safe sex and teen pregnancy. It also touches on maternal and child health, family planning, gender-based violence, and women empowerment. Kyaddala is a Ugandan drama television series by Reach a Hand Uganda. The first season was produced by Emmanuel Ikubese Films and Reach a Hand Uganda. Set in a present day high school life, Kyaddala a Luganda word for "It's Real", focuses on real life social issues that affect young people across Africa and their attempts to overcome those issues. The series features actors and actresses from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria. Kyaddala premiered on 27 September 2019 at Kingdom Kampala.

Kenneth Obinna Okolie is a Nigerian actor, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Mr Nigeria 2010 and in 2015 won the City People Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor of the Year (English) at the City People Entertainment Awards.

Eleanor Vaal Nansibo Nabwiso is a Ugandan actress, producer, director and television personality. She is known for her work on The Hostel, Rain, Beneath the Lies - The Series and Bed of Thorns as the director. She also owns a production company called Nabwiso Films which she set up together with her husband Matthew Nabwiso.
