Encarna Abad (born 1927) is a Spanish actress.
She developed her professional career almost entirely in the theater, mostly in supporting roles in comedy billing. Her stage career began in the 1930s when she was still a child, [1] one forming in the School of Actors Perez de Leon and tablet. [2] Abad debuted professionally after the Spanish Civil War in the field of musical theater. She integrated into the company of Mariano Madrid, participating in comic roles in Windmills (1943), Pablo Luna [3] and magazines Honeymoon in Cairo (1944), [4] The Double White (1947), with Zori, Santos and Codeso, [5] The bear and the strawberry tree (1949) and Woman SM (1951), the last three of Maestro Guerrero.
Late in the 1950s, she continued her career as a comic vedette with pieces like Day and Night in Madrid (1952) Sandy Torre (1956) [6] and Lulu Mink (1959), with Eugenia Roca, [7] but also made inroads into the genre of farce: Beware the Paca (1951) [8] and the boy sprouts (1951), both of Jose de Lucio.
In the early 60s, she changed her stage name to Encarnita by Encarna and finally abandoned the genre fully focusing her career in comedy, for which she was especially gifted. She can thus be cited in February 30 (1963), of Alfonso Paso, [9] The Governor (1964), with Pedro Porcel and Francisco Piquer and A serene under the bed (1970), with Carmen Maura. [10]
In 1972, she traveled with the Tirso de Molina actors company to the German Federal Republic to represent Spanish emigrants in the work of Miguel Mihura Ninette and a lord of Murcia . [11] On her return, she continued to expand her repertoire with tens of thousands of works under the direction of Gustavo Perez Puig, among which may be mentioned the goldfish (1973) by Jean Anouilh, [12] Don Mendo's Revenge (1977), Pedro Muñoz Seca, Angelina or honor of a brigadier (1979 ) of Jardiel Enrique Ponce, A night at home ... Lady (1979) of Jean de Létraz, [13] The case of women asesinadita (1982), Miguel Mihura, A roundtrip husband (1985), of Jardiel, The mocedades del Cid (1990) of Guillem de Castro, [14] and the tyrant Judit (1992), Pedro Salinas, Vested Interests (1992), by Jacinto Benavente, Cyanide ... Alone or with milk? (1993) of Juan José Alonso Millán, Don Juan Tenorio (1993), de Zorrilla, The Knight of the Golden Spurs (1994), by Alejandro Casona [15] and Picospardo's (1995) of Javier García Maurino directed by Mara Recatero, the last three mentioned in the Spanish Theatre.
She was also a regular face on television since the mid-1960s, participating in several televised theater spaces such as Study 1 .
She retired in the late 1990s.

Though his work ranged from high drama to absurdist farce, Anouilh is best known for his 1944 play Antigone, an adaptation of Sophocles' classical drama, that was seen as an attack on Marshal Pétain's Vichy government. One of France's most prolific writers after World War II, much of Anouilh's work deals with themes of maintaining integrity in a world of moral compromise.

A third group, El Consorcio, is composed of former Mocedades members who left the group but have continued a career together outside the Mocedades brand.
Mecha Ortiz was a classic Argentine actress who appeared in film between 1937 and 1981, during the Golden Age of Argentine Cinema. At the 1944 Argentine Film Critics Association Awards, Ortiz won the Silver Condor Award for Best Actress for her performance in Safo, historia de una pasión (1943) and won it again in 1946 for her performance in El canto del cisne (1945). She was known as the Argentine Greta Garbo and for playing mysterious characters, who suffered by past misfortunes in love, mental disorders, or forbidden love. Safo, historia de una pasión was the first erotic Argentine film, though there was no nudity. She also played in the first film in which a woman struck a man and the first film with a lesbian romance. In 1981, she was awarded the Grand Prize for actresses from the National Endowment for the Arts.
China Zorrilla was an Uruguayan theater, film, and television actress, also director, producer and writer. An immensely popular star in the Rioplatense area, she is often regarded as a "Grand Dame" of the South American theater stage.

At age 20, she finished working on copla or chotis and was featured in films between 1927 and 1928. She was a pioneer of silent films. She became a famous Spanish actress after the Spanish Civil War. Léocadia is a play by Jean Anouilh that premiered at the Théâtre de la Michodière in Paris on 2 December 1940. It is one of Anouilh's Pièces roses, together with Humulus le muet (1932), Le Bal des voleurs (1938), and Le Rendez-vous de Senlis (1941). For the occasion, Francis Poulenc composed one of his most celebrated songs, "Les Chemins de l'amour", sung by Yvonne Printemps.
María de la Encarnación Gertrudis Jacoba Aragoneses y de Urquijo was a Spanish author of children's literature who wrote under the pen name Elena Fortún. She became famous for Celia, lo que dice the first in the series of children's novels which were a collection of short stories first published in magazines in 1929. The series were both popular and successful during the time of their publications and are today considered classics of Spanish literature.
Josefina de la Torre Millares (1907–2002) was a Spanish poet, novelist, and opera singer, as well as a stage, film, radio, and television actress. She was closely associated with the Generation of '27, an influential group of poets including Ernestina de Champourcín, Juan José Domenchina, Concha Méndez and Carmen Conde, that arose in Spanish literary circles between 1923 and 1927, essentially out of a shared desire to experience and work with avant-garde forms of art and poetry.
Carlos Llopis was the shortened name used by the Spanish dramatist Carlos Fernández Montero Llopis. He wrote around 50 comedies almost all of which were staged in Madrid and theatres across Spain and Latin America.
Virginia Keiley (1918–1990) was a British actress. She began her career at Gainsborough Pictures appearing in a number of glamorous but small, sometimes uncredited roles in the studio's comedies and melodramas. After the Second World War she graduated to more substantial parts including playing the female lead in the 1951 Spanish comedy I Want to Marry You. Her final screen appearance was in an episode of the British television series The Vise in 1959.

The Festival of Spanish Theatre of London (FesTeLõn) has taken place in June every year since 2013, when it opened at the Greenwood Theatre, with a production of El Diccionario by Manuel Calzada, a play about the lexicographer María Moliner, with Vicky Peña starring in the lead role. Its objective is to bring contemporary theatre beyond the borders of Spain, working with professional Spanish theatre companies. The plays are usually performed in Spanish with English surtitles in order to ensure that they are accessible to the widest possible audience. The festival also includes a full programme of related talks and workshops to complement the stage performances, as well as bilingual “meet the cast” sessions, with Q&A.
