Energy is an American punk rock band, from Stoughton, Massachusetts, formed in 2006.
In 2006, Energy - which took its name from the title of punk rock band Operation Ivy's first release, formed before independently releasing their EP Punch The Clock, through Rock Vegas Records in 2007. [1]
In August of that year, the band went on to play This Is Hardcore Festival alongside band such as Agnostic Front, Paint It Black, Have Heart, and Crime In Stereo. [2] [3]
After touring with The Carrier in March of 2008, [4] the band signed with Bridge 9 Records in May, to release their debut LP Invasions of the Mind , [5] [6] [7] and EP Race The Sun. [8]
In early July the band toured with Carry The Torch, and Heavy Hearted. [9]
Throughout August/September they did a month long US tour with the band Know The Score. [10]
The band then toured the U.S. with H2O, Bane, and Cruel Hand in October, [11] followed by their first European tour in support of Slapshot, alongside All for Nothing, in November, with one of the dates being Persistence Tour. [12] Ending the year with a mini holiday tour with Set Your Goals, Four Year Strong and Every Avenue. [13]
In March 2009, they toured the US with the band Defeater, [14] before touring in May with The Mongoloids and Ambush!. [15]
April would bring the band to New England Metal and Hardcore Festival XI 2009 where they would play alongside notable bands such as Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, Children Of Bodom, God Forbid, Municipal Waste, Emmure, Winds Of Plague, All Shall Perish, Austrian Death Machine, iwrestledabearonce, Terror, Defeater, Have Heart, and Trapped Under Ice. July they toured with Fallen From The Sky, and Debaser, playing Significant Festival 2009. [17] [18]
In September they did a headlining tour with support from A Loss For Words, and The Wonder Years. [19]
October 2010 brought the release of the EP Walk Into The Fire. [20]
With the release of the single "Secrets" in April 2011, came their departure from Bridge 9 Records shortly after. [21]
Forming in the fall of 2004, Children of the Night, a side project put together by singer Jason Tankerley and songwriter/producer Mike Rendini, began doing complex renditions of Misfits songs, before putting together original material containing the same morbid feel crossed with the catchiness of 50s Doo-Wop and early 60's rock n roll. [22]
Initially self released under the Children of the Night moniker in 2006, the aforementioned material saw a proper release in 2011, as Energy's Children of the Night EP. [23]
After becoming the sole songwriter for Energy in 2012, Jason Tankerley began writing songs for what would eventually make up Energy's 2016 album Apparition Sound , released through Monster Party Records. [24] [25] [26]
During this time, Energy released the single "I Play for Keeps" in February of 2012 [27] and a music video for the song "Another Yesterday" in October. [28]
The band then went on to release their Misfits tribute album a Tribute to the Misfits, February of 2014.(Down for Anything Records) [29]
October 2015 saw the release of the music video for their cover of the Ramones' classic "Pet Sematary". [30]
In 2016, the band released their music video for "They". [31]
In March 2017, the band toured the UK for the first time ever with Creeper, Puppy, and Milk Teeth. [32]
May brought the release of the music video for "A Prayer for Rain". [33]
On July 21, the band released the EP Under the Mask through Shadowland Productions, [34] [35] which was followed by their first ever headlining tour of the U.K. with Miss Vincent as the support act. [36]
Energy then went on to release a self titled compilation album Energy in 2018, which is a compilation album spanning the first five years (2012-2017) of lead singer Jason's musical output as the band's sole songwriter. [37] [38]
It was announced in June of 2021 that Energy will be releasing a cover version of the Samhain song "Archangel” for the album "World Without End: An Underground Tribute To Samhain" on July 9, 2021, via Black Donut Records. [39] [40]
The band's musical style has been described as punk rock, melodic hardcore, horror punk and pop punk, drawing from a wide range of musical influences from bands like The Misfits, The Ramones, Rancid, AFI, 7 Seconds, Minor Threat and Black Flag, to other influences such as Weezer, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Beach Boys and The Cure. Over the years, Tankerley's vocal delivery has been compared to the likes of Davey Havok (AFI), Michale Graves (ex-misfits), and Zoltán Téglás (ex-Pennywise) while adding his own vast array of vocal influences. [44]

The Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the pioneers of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. The group was founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, by vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Glenn Danzig. Over the next six years, Danzig and bassist Jerry Only were the group's main members through numerous personnel changes. During this period, they released several EPs and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The band has gone through many lineup changes over the years, with bassist Jerry Only being the only constant member in the group.
AFI is an American rock band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Since 1998, it consists of lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backing vocalist Adam Carson, bassist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Jade Puget. Havok and Carson are the sole remaining original members. Originally a hardcore punk band, they have since delved into many genres, starting with horror punk and following through post-hardcore and emo into alternative rock and gothic rock.
Danzig is an American heavy metal band led by former Samhain and Misfits singer Glenn Danzig. Formed in 1987 in Lodi, New Jersey, the group early on became a unique voice in the rock scene, playing a bluesy, doom-laden metal with Glenn Danzig crooning in the style of Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley. Danzig's openly satanic lyrics and image stirred controversy. After a major hit with a live version of its 1988 song "Mother", the band experimented with industrial music but later returned to heavy metal. As of 2023, Danzig has released 12 studio albums, two EPs, one live album, and one compilation album.
Glenn Allen Anzalone, better known by his stage name Glenn Danzig, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He is the founder of the rock bands Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. He owns the Evilive record label as well as Verotik, an adult-oriented comic book publishing company.

Samhain was an American rock band formed by singer Glenn Danzig in 1983, immediately following his departure from The Misfits. Glenn Danzig originally planned Samhain as a side project with Eerie Von. After the Misfits' contentious 1983 dissolution, Samhain became Danzig's full-time band.
Hot Snakes were an American rock band led by Rick Froberg and John Reis, formed in 1999 in San Diego, California. Reis and Froberg had previously performed together in Pitchfork and Drive Like Jehu, after which Reis found international success with Rocket from the Crypt. Hot Snakes disbanded in 2005, but reunited in 2011.
Eerie Von is an American musician and photographer best known as the original bassist for the heavy metal band Danzig. His preferred bass is the Fender Jazz Bass.
Integrity is a hardcore punk band originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but based in Belgium since 2003. It was formed in 1988 by lead vocalist Dwid Hellion.
Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar work. It generally incorporates fast rhythms, melodic and often distorted guitar riffs, and vocal styles tending towards shouting and screaming. Nevertheless, the genre has been very diverse, with different bands showcasing very different styles. Many pioneering melodic hardcore bands, have proven influential across the spectrum of punk rock, as well as rock music more generally. The term melodic punk is often used to describe both melodic hardcore and skate punk bands.
Creeper are an English rock band from Southampton. Formed in 2014, the group originally featured vocalist Will Gould, guitarists Ian Miles and Sina Nemati, bassist Sean Scott, and drummer Dan Bratton. The band independently released their self-titled debut EP in 2014, before signing with Roadrunner Records and issuing follow-up The Callous Heart the next year. At the end of 2015, Nemati was replaced by Oliver Burdett and touring keyboardist/second vocalist Hannah Greenwood became an official band member. A third EP, The Stranger, was released in 2016 and reached the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart top ten.
Todd Schofield, known as Todd Youth, was an American guitarist, best known for his work with Warzone, Murphy's Law and Danzig.
Son of Sam is an American horror punk band that is a side project created by Todd Youth in 2000, during his tenure as the guitarist for Danzig. The band's initial line up featured members of Samhain, Danzig, and AFI. Much like its members' other work, Son of Sam plays in the horror punk style, and also infuses metal and deathrock elements into their music. The name of the band was inspired by the iconic serial killer David Berkowitz, known as the notorious "Son of Sam". This also draws reference to the band Samhain.
Dave Hause is an American singer-songwriter. He currently performs both solo and with his band The Mermaid. His music draws from heartland rock, folk rock and punk rock. He has also played in multiple Philadelphia-area punk and hardcore bands, including The Loved Ones and The Falcon.
Title Fight is an American rock band from Kingston, Pennsylvania, formed in 2003. They released three studio albums – Shed (2011), Floral Green (2012) and Hyperview (2015) – gradually shifting from a hardcore punk-oriented sound towards shoegaze and indie rock. Hyperview was released through Anti-, a record label to which the band signed in July 2014.

Hostage Calm was an American punk rock band from Wallingford, Connecticut, United States, formed in 2007. Hostage Calm released two extended plays, four full-length albums, and a split with punk band Anti-Flag. The band announced their breakup on October 8, 2014, and played their last show on March 6, 2015.
The White Noise was an American punk rock band from Dallas, Texas, later based in Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2010 under the name Set the Sun by guitarist and vocalist David Southern and drummer Alex Summers, the band released two EPs and a series of singles while still based in Dallas. By 2013, Southern was left the sole founding member and recruited vocalist Shawn Walker and guitarist Josh "KJ" Strock. This lineup would relocate to Los Angeles and change their name to the White Noise. In total, the band released three EPs, in addition to one studio album, 2017's AM/PM.
