Enkelejd Alibeaj (born September 11,1973) is a member of the Albanian parliament. He was the minister of justice in Albania from 2005 to 2009. [1] [2] He was a member of the Democratic Party of Albania from 2005 to 2024.
In the years 2005–2007,Alibeaj served as the Director of the Department of Internal Administrative Control and Anticorruption at the Council of Ministers. The appointment in this position is the direct competence of the Prime Minister and the department he led constitutes an important and efficient structure of the administrative investigation of the activity of the state administration,having concrete results and appreciated by the internal opinion and international organizations. During these years he has represented the Council of Ministers in court cases before the Constitutional Court.[ citation needed ]
Alibeaj was engaged in academic activities as a lecturer in the subject "Constitutional Law" at several universities and has contributed to a number of activities and academic publications in the field of law.[ citation needed ]
Alibeaj had participated in a number of seminars,conferences,activities and training courses abroad related to criminal procedural law (Italy,Poland),human rights (Strasbourg),judicial reform (Bulgaria) or in the field of anti-corruption.[ citation needed ]
In the years 2000–2003,he served as the executive director of a non-profit organization in the field of law "Institute of Democratic Studies" with the object of his activity being studies in the field of law and preparation of legislation. He has also been engaged by the OSCE - Presence in Albania as one of the best local experts in the field of election systems and legislation.[ citation needed ]
From 2005 to 2009 Alibeaj served as minister of Justice in the Berisha I Government.[ citation needed ]
Following a vote on 11 December 2021,held at Arena Kombëtar where 4,446 members voted for the removal of Lulzim Basha as leader of the Democratic Party, [3] Basha resigned on 21 March 2022. [4] Afterward,Alibeaj was given leadership roles within the party by Basha’s faction. However,some have speculated that Alibeaj’s actions are influenced by Basha,with critics suggesting that Basha may still hold sway over him. [5] Meanwhile,Sali Berisha and his faction disputed Alibeaj’s leadership,with Berisha claiming the position of party leader. [6] This ongoing division has led to internal conflict,particularly around who would represent the party in the upcoming local elections. [7] [8]
The Commissioner of the Central Election Commission also commented,controversially suggesting it might be better if neither faction registered. [9] Despite this,both Alibeaj and Berisha announced intentions to run their own candidates in the local elections, [10] [11] creating uncertainty over which would be recognized as the official Democratic Party candidates.
On 3 March 2023,a trial in Tirana resulted in Alibeaj being affirmed as leader of the Democratic Party of Albania,while Berisha held a large-scale protest in Tirana on the same day. [12] Later,on 17 May 2023,Alibeaj officially resigned from all his posts within the Democratic Party. [13]
Sali Ram Berisha is an Albanian cardiologist and conservative politician who served as the president of Albania from 1992 to 1997 and 32nd prime minister from 2005 to 2013. Berisha serves as Chairman of the Democratic Party of Albania since 2022 and has held the position previously from 1990 to 1992 and from 1997 to 2013. He also serves as the incumbent Leader of Opposition in the Albanian parliament.

In 1991,the Socialist Party of Albania,with specific social democratic ideology took control of the country through democratic elections. One year later the Democratic Party of Albania won the new elections. After 1990,Albania has been seeking a closer relationship with the West. What followed were deliberate programs of economic and democratic reform,but the implementation of capitalism led to the proliferation of pyramid schemes. The Albanian local elections of 2011 took place on 8 May 2011 in Albania. Electors were asked to elect their municipality's mayor,municipal council members,municipal unit mayor,and municipal unit members. The elections were administrated by the Central Election Commission of Albania. Only 9 of the 384 winning candidates were women.

Local elections were held in Albania on 21 June 2015. Voters elected mayors,municipal council members,municipal unit mayors and municipal unit members. The Central Election Commission of Albania was responsible for administrating the elections. This provided that the community type of komuna was abolished and at the same time the total number of communities were reduced from 373 to 61 Bashkia. Those entitled to vote elected the executive and legislative representatives of their communities,the 61 mayors (and on the other hand the total of 1595 municipal councils.

Belind Këlliçi is an Albanian conservative politician. He has been currently appointed by the Democratic Party of Albania as the Political Leader of Tirana County for the upcoming elections in 2025. He was elected Member of Parliament for Tirana County in April 2021 general elections. He was the official candidate of the Democratic Party to run for Mayor of Tirana in the local elections of 2023,after winning in the Democratic Party Primaries.

The first Government of Prime Minister Sali Berisha was the 63rd ruling Government of the Republic of Albania formed on 8 September 2005. Following the 3 July 2005 election,the Democratic Party formed a center-right post-electoral alliance to make a majority of seats to Parliament and form the government. The alliance consisted of five-center-right parties led by Sali Berisha managed to create a majority of 81 deputies out of 140 in the Assembly. The new government led by Sali Berisha was voted on 8 September with 84-votes Pro,and took oath on 11 September in the presence of the President of the Republic Alfred Moisiu.
