Founded in 1991, Eno River Rugby, also called the "Rage," is a rugby union club based in Durham, North Carolina. Eno River players come from in and around Durham, playing other teams in the Carolinas Geographical Union and participating in tournaments and playoffs in bordering states.
Women - Eno River Rugby is the oldest women's rugby club in North Carolina and the founding division of the Rage. The club is always seeking women interested in learning and playing rugby. No experience necessary. The team practices at Campus Hills Park in Durham, North Carolina, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9 PM. The women compete in 15s in the fall and spring and 7s in the summer, traveling throughout North Carolina and the Southeast for tournaments and matches.
Men - The men's team used to include players 21 and over, a mix of skilled veterans and newcomers. The men's division usually traveled throughout North Carolina and other states for matches, round robins, and tournaments. Unfortunately, this team has disbanded. The current men's rugby team is Tobacco Road Rugby (Formerly known as the Chapel Hill Warriors) in Durham and Raleigh Rugby Vipers in Raleigh. Raleigh Vipers and the
Youth - Known under the youth or "under-19" division, it was the newest division under the Rage and faced some of the best in the North Carolina Rugby Football Union, such as the Chapel Hill Highlanders and schools in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. This team has disbanded.

The Research Triangle, or simply The Triangle, are both common nicknames for a metropolitan area in the Piedmont region of the U.S. state of North Carolina. The Mystic River Rugby Club, sometimes called Boston Mystic, is a New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU) club, founded in 1974, located in Malden, Massachusetts, and Melrose, Massachusetts, who field teams in Division 1 American Rugby Premiership and Division 2 Rugby Union in the United States and are the current 2018 USA Rugby D1 National Champions.

Joshua Caleb Norkus is a former American soccer player. He played professionally in Germany, Chile, Puerto Rico and the United States. He was a member of the United States U-17 men's national soccer team at the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship held in Quito, Ecuador, as well as the United States U-18 men's national soccer team and the United States U-20 men's national soccer team.
The 2002 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament concluded on March 31, 2002 when Connecticut won the national title. The Final Four was held at the Alamodome in San Antonio on March 29–31, 2002. UConn, coached by Geno Auriemma, defeated Oklahoma 82-70 in the championship game.

Northern Football Club are a rugby union club that was founded in 1875, and is based in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. Their strip is coloured navy blue, red and white. They currently play in Regional 2 North, the sixth tier of the English rugby union system, having been promoted from Durham Northumberland One at the end of the 2021–22 season. Northern field three senior teams. These are the first team, Northern Wanderers and Northern Panthers. Northern have a large and successful mini and youth rugby set-up.

The Carolinas Geographic Rugby Union is responsible for administration and governance of Rugby Union for adults in North and South Carolina and surrounding areas in Tennessee and Georgia. The CGRU currently serves over 30 men's (D2/D3/D4) and women's (D2) clubs. Membership has grown significantly in recent years with over 1400 registered players. The mission of the Carolinas Geographic Rugby Union is to grow, develop, support, and manage the sport of rugby union in the Carolinas and surrounding areas.
Brianna Alexis Smalls Pinto is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
Margaret Nygard was a British-American environmentalist and conservationist. Born in British India to a civil servant, she was educated in both India and Britain. During the 1940 and 1941 bombing campaign against Britain, her school was relocated to British Columbia, Canada. Nygard studied English at the University of British Columbia and after her graduation in 1944 briefly became a teacher at the university. She went on to earn a master's degree and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1962, she and her family moved to Durham, North Carolina, and became aware of environmental threats to the Eno River. She founded the Eno River Association in 1965, becoming its first president. She naturalised as a United States citizen in 1993.
