Enosi Alexandroupoli (also named Enosi Thraki) was a football club based in Alexandroupoli, Greece.

History

Orfeas Alexandroupoli was formed in the summer of 1995 from the merger of two local clubs, AO Alex and Ethnikos Alexandroupoli. The name of the team was Orfeas Alexandroupolis officially up to 1999. In 1999, the club changed ownership and it was renamed P.A. Enosi Thraki. Finally, in 2007, it was renamed to Enosi Alexandroupoli. [1]

In the summer of 2008 the ownership changed. With the new owner came new manager and new players. The new season started well, but for financial reasons the team was dismissed from the championship and relegated to Delta Ethniki.

Stadium

The team plays in the Fotis Kosmas Stadium, [2] which is located in the centre of the city and has a capacity of 7,000 seats.

It started on September 14, 2008 and finished on May 3, 2009. 36 teams contest the league, divided into two groups of 18 clubs each, using certain geographical criteria. 23 of the participant clubs have contested in the 2007-08 season, 3 of them have been relegated from Beta Ethniki, while 10 of them have been promoted from Delta Ethniki. Last season's champions of North Group were Kavala, and Diagoras of South Group.

The 2006–07 season was the 24th of Gamma Ethniki, or the Third National Football Division of Greece. Agios Dimitrios and Pierikos were crowned champions in South and North Group respectively, thus winning promotion to Beta Ethniki. ASK Olympiakos Volos won the third promotion ticket after defeating Rodos 2-1 in a single play-off match at Municipal Ground of Peristeri between the two groups' second-placed teams.

The 2013–14 Gamma Ethniki Cup was the first edition of the Gamma Ethniki Cup, a Greek football Cup competition, wherein only the clubs of the Gamma Ethniki were allowed to participate. The Cup winner competed at the end of the season with the winner of the 2013–14 Amateurs' Cup for the 2014 Amateurs' Super Cup.
