Enrico Gustavo Linscheer (born 19 October 1974) is a Surinamese swimmer who competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1996 Summer Olympics. [1]
Linscheer was just seventeen years old when he competed in two events at the 1992 Summer Olympics, first up was the 100 metre freestyle, he swam his heat in 52.94 seconds and finished in 47th place out of 75 swimmers so didn't qualify for the next round. [2] Two days later he was competing in the 50 metre freestyle and returned in a time of 23.74 seconds and finished in 33rd place. [3] Four years later at the 1996 Summer Olympics he only competed in the 50 metre freestyle and finished one place better in 32nd after swimming it in 23.45 seconds. [4] Linscheer attended the University of Florida along with his brother Giovanni [5] and competed in both Olympics with him. Giovanni died in 2000, aged 27 years old, in a vehicle accident. [6]

Nations had been limited to two swimmers each since the 1984 Games. The event was won by Alexander Popov of the Unified Team. Gustavo Borges's silver was Brazil's first medal in the men's 100 metre freestyle since 1960. Stéphan Caron of France repeated as bronze medalist, the eighth man to win multiple medals in the event. It was the first time since 1968 that the United States had competed and not won the event and the first time since 1956 that the Americans had competed and not taken any medal, as Jon Olsen finished fourth and defending champion Matt Biondi came in fifth.

Nations had been limited to two swimmers each since the 1984 Games. The event was won by Alexander Popov of Russia, the third man to successfully defend an Olympic title in the 100 metre freestyle. Gary Hall, Jr. returned the United States to the podium in the event after a one-Games absence. Gustavo Borges, the silver medalist in 1992, earned bronze. Popov and Borges were the 9th and 10th men to earn multiple medals in the event.

Ravil Nachaev is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. He is a three-time Olympian, and a gold medalist in the 50 m freestyle at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.
Ratapong "Nuk" Sirisanont is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke, but also competed in long-distance freestyle and individual medley. He is a four-time Olympian, a three-time Asian Games participant, and a seven-time SEA Games athlete (1991–2003). Regarded as Thailand's top swimmer, he has won a total of sixteen medals at the Southeast Asian Games since 1995, and six at the Asian Games, including two golds in the 200 and 400 m individual medley. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Sirisanont became the first Thai swimmer to reach the final twice. Sirisanont is also one of three Southeast Asian swimmers, along with Malaysia's Alex Lim and Philippines' Miguel Molina, to train for the California Golden Bears in the United States, under head coach Nort Thornton.
Stavros Michaelides is a Cypriot former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He is a three-time Olympian, a triple medalist at the Mediterranean Games, and a former Cypriot record holder in the 50 m freestyle. In 2003, Michaelides was selected as one of eight Olympians to be the major pioneers of The Race Club in Islamorada, Florida.
Allan Murray is a Bahamian former swimmer who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He is a three-time Olympian, and a top 16 finalist in the 50 m freestyle at his second Olympic appearance in Atlanta. While studying in the United States, Murray was a member of Georgia Bulldogs swimming team under head coach Jack Bauerle.
Janko Gojković is a Bosnian former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. He is a three-time Olympian, and a member of the Bosnian swimming team since the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia in 1991. He held numerous Bosnian records in the 100 m butterfly, and achieved top finishes from the European Championships. After his sporting career ended in 2000, Gojković worked in various swim clubs across Great Britain and some parts of Eastern Europe.
Kenny Roberts is a Seychellois former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle, but also competed in breaststroke and in individual medley. He represented the Seychelles in all three editions of the Olympic Games, since the nation made its comeback in 1992. While studying in the United States, he played for the Bolles School's Sharks Club, under head coach Gregg Troy, and later for the Clemson University's swimming and diving team, also known as the Clemson Tigers. Currently, Roberts is appointed as the chairman of the Seychelles Swimming Association (SSA).
Elín Sigurðardóttir is an Icelandic former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Sigurdardottir represented Iceland in two editions of the Olympic Games, and also formerly held an Icelandic record in the 50 m freestyle, before it was eventually broken by Ragnheiður Ragnarsdóttir and Sarah Blake Bateman.
