Ensemble Arts Philly (also called Ensemble Arts) is a presenting brand name from the Kimmel Cultural Campus and The Philadelphia Orchestra, representing a wide variety of genres, including Broadway, comedy, theater, jazz, dance, and family presentations across three venues: the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Academy of Music, and the Miller Theater.

Premier performing arts groups reside at the Ensemble Arts Philly venues. These Resident Companies include: Opera Philadelphia, Philadelphia Ballet, Curtis Institute of Music, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, PHILADANCO!, and The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society.  

This new brand was announced by the Kimmel Cultural Campus and The Philadelphia Orchestra on January 10, 2024. [1]

Presenting programming all year long, Ensemble Arts hosts several annual events: Philadelphia Fall Arts Fest is a day of festival-style performances from across the region. [2] The organization participates annually in the Wawa Welcome America festival, Three Kings Day celebration with the Mexican Cultural Center, and A Soulful Christmas, a holiday spectacular inspired by African diaspora. [3]

Performance and other facilities

Ensemble Arts operates across three venues along the Avenue of the Arts in Center City, Philadelphia, including the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Academy of Music, and the Miller Theater.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts has various performance and meeting spaces within it. A distinctive vaulted glass ceiling encloses the entire structure providing a large common lobby for all the facilities. The center is a popular attraction, keeping its doors open to the public seven days a week. It hosts thousands of visitors annually and offers free tours of the facility regularly.

The National Theater Hall and National Concert Hall, or together the National Theater and Concert Hall, are twin performing arts venues at Liberty Square in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. Orchestra 2001 was founded at Swarthmore College, where it was Ensemble-in-Residence for over twenty-five years. In addition to concerts in the Philadelphia area, the ensemble has brought new American music to countless new audiences through national and international tours and commercial recordings.

Thee Phantom is an artist who specializes in combining Hip-Hop with live orchestration by recording and performing with classically trained musicians, including forming his own "Illharmonic Orchestra". He wrote his first rhyme at the age of 8 and made his first beat by mixing the instrumental from the Beastie Boys’ Paul Revere with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony at age 12. Most notably, in 2002 Phantom became the first Hip-Hop artist to perform at Philadelphia’s prestigious Kimmel Center with musical accompaniment from members of the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. Phantom was invited back in 2003 to perform at the Kimmel Center’s annual Summer Solstice Celebration. Accompanied by a string quartet, concert pianist and a sitar player, he performed to a capacity crowd in the 650-seat Perelman Theater. In June 2006, Phantom graced the stage of the Kimmel Center’s 2,500-seat Verizon Hall with a string section, brass section, female vocalist, a DJ and a trio of breakdancers. In October 2006, Phantom made his television debut on Philadelphia's NBC 10 Show, performing with a string trio and a female vocalist named, "The Phoenix".

They are known as "America's Ambassadors of Song" and are considered to be one of the best boys choirs in the world. They have performed in concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Kimmel Center, Notre Dame de Paris, King's College Cathedral, and Philadelphia's Academy of Music.

Miller Theater, originally the Sam S. Shubert Theatre and later, the Merriam Theater, is Philadelphia's most continuous location for touring Broadway shows. It is located at 250 South Broad Street within the Avenue of the Arts cultural district of Center City Philadelphia. The Theatre was built by The Shubert Organization in 1918.

The Organ Concerto is a composition for solo organ and orchestra by the American composer Christopher Rouse. The work was commissioned for the organist Paul Jacobs by the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the National Symphony Orchestra. It was completed on June 23, 2014 and was first performed by Paul Jacobs and the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on November 17, 2016. Rouse dedicated the piece to Jacobs.

Play on Philly, commonly known as POP, is an American music education organization dedicated to the development of young musicians. Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it was co-founded by Stanford Thompson and Carole Haas Gravagno. Using the El Sistema method to provide musical education, Play On Philly offers free music instruction to students, whom are often from low-income communities and have had little to no exposure to formal musical training. The program acquired the Marian Anderson Award in 2022.
