The world's second-tallest building with a rooftop helipad was also completed in 2010: Beijing's China World Trade Center Tower III, whose roof-top helipad is 330 m high. Both buildings are taller than the U.S. Bank Tower, the previous record-holder from 1989 to 2010, whose roof-top helipad is 310.3 m (1,018 ft) high.
Guangzhou Football Club, previously Guangzhou Evergrande, is a Chinese professional football club based in Guangzhou, Guangdong, that competes in China League One, the second tier of Chinese football. Guangzhou plays its home matches at the Huadu Stadium, located within Huadu District, groundsharing with Guangdong GZ-Power. China participated and hosted the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou on 12–27 November 2010. China achieved a historic milestone by surpassing the 400-medal threshold in a single edition, so becoming the first nation to do so in the history of the Asian Games.

The National Olympic Committee of Thailand sent 593 athletes to Guangzhou, and competed in 39 out of 42 sports. Thailand ended the games at 52 overall medals including 11 gold medals. These games witnessed first ever gold medals in Taekwondo.
The Foshan Metro is the rapid transit system of the city of Foshan in Guangdong, China. Guangfo line is operated by Guangzhou Metro Corporation, and all other lines are operated by the state-owned Foshan Rail Transit Group. It is the tenth metro system to be built in mainland China. Construction began in 2002 and the first line opened on 3 November 2010. The metro system has one new line and one extension under construction.
Athletics at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou, China from 21 to 27 November 2010. A total of 47 events were contested – 24 by men and 23 by women – matching the Olympic athletics programme. The 42 track and field events on the programme were hosted at the Aoti Main Stadium while the marathons and racewalking competitions took place around the city's University Town. Sixteen Asian Games records were broken during the seven-day competition.

Kim Seok is a South Korean equestrian and former actor. He began his career as a child actor in 1997, starring in films and television dramas such as When I Turned Nine (2004), Seoul 1945 (2006) and Princess Hours (2006). In 1999, Kim was encouraged by his father to take up horseback riding in order to boost his stamina, but his skill in the sport led him to put his entertainment activities on hold in 2009 and focus on being a member of the Korean national equestrian team. He competed in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou and the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
