Eric "Bobo" Correa (born August 27, 1968) is an American percussionist and a member of the hip hop bands Beastie Boys, then Cypress Hill and Ritmo Machine as well as the Industrial metal band Sol Invicto. He performed and recorded with the Beastie Boys through the 1990s.
Correa is the son of Latin jazz musician Willie Bobo. [1] He began drumming at the age of four, and made his first public appearance at the age of five, performing on stage with his father. [2]
Correa ended up recording with the Beastie Boys for the albums Ill Communication and Hello Nasty . While on tour with the Beasties, Correa encountered Cypress Hill and joined the group as their percussionist for their world tours, [3] splitting time between both groups.
In 2008 he formed the Industrial Metal group Sol Invicto with Richie Londres and Deftones Guitarist Stephen Carpenter
Beastie Boys were an American hip hop/rap rock group from New York City, formed in 1981. The group was composed of Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz, Adam "MCA" Yauch, and Michael "Mike D" Diamond. Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band The Young Aborigines, which was formed in 1979, with Diamond on drums, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach later joining on percussion. Deftones is an American alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California in 1988. They were formed by frontman Chino Moreno, lead guitarist Stephen Carpenter and drummer Abe Cunningham, with bassist Chi Cheng and keyboardist and turntablist Frank Delgado joining the line-up in 1990 and 1999, respectively. The band's experimental nature has led some critics to describe them as "the Radiohead of metal".
