Eric LeMarque (born July 1, 1959) is an American-French basketball player and a former professional ice hockey player. During his ice hockey career, he was a member of the French national ice hockey team and competed with the team at the 2000 Winter Olympics.
LeMarque was born in Paris, France and grew up in the West Hills and Pacific Palisades, two neighborhoods of Los Angeles. [1] [2]
Growing up in the United States, he played Division I college ice hockey with the Northern Michigan University Wildcats from 1987 to 1991. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins of the NHL at 17-years old with the 224th pick in the 1987 draft. [1] [3] He played the majority of his career in France, where he won three straight national championships from 1994 to 1996, and in Germany. He was selected to the French national ice hockey team and competed with the team at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, where he netted one goal in five games, and at the IHW World Championships in 1994 and 1995. [4] He retired from hockey during the 1999–2000 season and took up snowboarding focusing on the X-Games.[ citation needed ]
On February 6, 2004, LeMarque became trapped in the Sierra Nevada Mountains wilderness. He survived for eight days by living in a makeshift igloo and eating pine nuts and cedar. [5] [6] [4] He was able to find his way back to Mammoth Mountain Ski Area after eight days and almost 10 miles of hiking through deep snow and sub-freezing temperatures. [1] Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he lost both of his legs due to severe frostbite. [7]
In 2017, the movie 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain was released based on the book Crystal Clear by LeMarque. [8]
Herbert Paul Brooks was an American ice hockey player and coach. His most notable achievement came in 1980 as head coach of the gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic team at Lake Placid. At the Games, Brooks' American team upset the heavily favored Soviet team in a match that came to be known as the "Miracle on Ice."

Dion Phaneuf is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenseman who played for the Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted ninth overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by Calgary and made his NHL debut in 2005 after a four-year junior career with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League (WHL), in which he was twice named the Defenceman of the Year.

Minaret Summit is a mountain pass on Highway 203 in the central Sierra Nevada. The pass, lying on the Madera-Mono County border, is within the Mammoth Ranger District of the Inyo National Forest and located near Devils Postpile National Monument, Mammoth Lakes, and Mammoth Mountain. The elevation of the pass is about 9,265 ft (2,824 m). Highway 203 ends at Minaret Summit. The road continues, now called Reds Meadow Road, until its dead end at the Reds Meadow Pack Station near the Rainbow Falls trailhead.

It stars Josh Hartnett, Mira Sorvino, Sarah Dumont, and Jason Cottle, and tells the true story of former professional hockey player Eric LeMarque, who finds himself stranded in the High Sierra during a fierce snowstorm and must use his wit and willpower to survive. The film was released in the United States on October 13, 2017.
Patrick Burgener, better known as Pat Burgener, is a Swiss professional snowboarder, two-time Olympian and musician. Pat joined the Swiss national team at the age of 14 and landed the world’s first Switch Backside Triple Cork 1440 in April 2011. Pat competed for Switzerland in the men's halfpipe at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang where he finished 5th overall. He earned two bronze medals in the halfpipe events at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2017 and again in 2019. Pat was named to his second Swiss Olympic Snowboard Freestyle Team on 18 January 2022. He represented Switzerland in the men’s halfpipe at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing where he qualified for the finals and placed 11th overall. His career results also include nine World Cup podiums, five European Cup podiums and seven Swiss Champion titles respectively in halfpipe and early on in big air.
Dieter Ruehle is an American musician who is the stadium organist for Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers and National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings. As of December 2024, Ruehle has played for three championship teams in three different sports: Dodgers in 2020 and 2024; Lakers in 2002, 2009, and 2010; and Kings in 2012 and 2014.
