The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club competes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member of the league's West Division and plays their home games at Commonwealth Stadium. The Elks were founded in 1949 as the Edmonton Eskimos and have won the Grey Cup championship fourteen times, most recently in 2015 and the most of any CFL club based in Western Canada. The team has a rivalry with the Calgary Stampeders. The team discontinued using the Eskimos name in 2020, with the new name Elks formally announced on June 1, 2021.
Kerry Tremaine Joseph is an American professional football coach and former player who is the quarterbacks coach for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at McNeese State as a quarterback and was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 1996. He later played defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks from 1998 to 2001. Joseph then played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a quarterback from 2003 to 2014. He was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player in 2007 while leading the Saskatchewan Roughriders to victory in the 95th Grey Cup. At the end of the season, he had completed 267 of 459 passes for 4,002 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also led all quarterbacks in the league in rushing with 737 yards on 90 attempts and 13 touchdowns.
Jordan Younger is the defensive coordinator for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is also a former professional defensive back and played for nine years in the CFL where he won two Grey Cup championships with the Toronto Argonauts.
The Richmond Spiders are a college football team representing the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond was the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision champion for the 2008 season. Armanti Fredrico Edwards Sr. is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and National Football League (NFL). He played college football as a quarterback for the Appalachian State Mountaineers from 2006 to 2009, and was named a 2024 inductee of College Football Hall of Fame. Edwards led Appalachian State to one of the biggest upsets in college football history, a 34–32 victory over then fifth-ranked Michigan in 2007. He was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft. In 2017, Edwards won the Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts. He last played for the CFL's Edmonton Elks.
Scott Stewart Milanovich is an American professional football coach and former player who is the head coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was also the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Football Team of the CFL. Milanovich has also held positional coaching roles in the NFL Europe and the National Football League (NFL).
John Cody Sherritt is the linebackers coach and pass game coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a former Canadian football linebacker who played in eight seasons for the Edmonton Eskimos and won one Grey Cup championship in 2015. Sherritt played his college football at Eastern Washington and was the 2010 recipient of the Buck Buchanan Award.
Matt Nichols is an American former professional Canadian football quarterback. He last played for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
