Erik Flynn Stocklin [2] (born September 24, 1982) is an American actor. He is known for his recurring roles on television series such as Mistresses, Stalker and Good Trouble , and for his leading role in the Netflix original series Haters Back Off . [3]
Erik Flynn Stocklin was born in Freehold, New Jersey. [4] He attended Southern Connecticut State University and earned a bachelor's degree in theatre in 2007. [5] While in college, he played for four summers with the Elm Shakespeare Company in New Haven, Connecticut. [6] He also trained at the Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City. [7] In 2008, he moved to California. [6]
Stocklin has played leading roles in feature films including Donner Pass (2011) and The Bad Guys (2015). [8] [9] He also appeared on television in recurring roles on Mistresses (2013) and Stalker (2014–2015), [10] and he guest-starred on The Vampire Diaries (2011), Bones (2014) and Timeless (2018), among others. [11] He has also appeared in national commercials for Marmot, Apple, Hyundai, Mazda and McDonald's. [6]
In 2016 and 2017, he co-starred in the Netflix series Haters Back Off , opposite series creator Colleen Ballinger, whom he married in 2018. [12] [13] Stocklin appeared in two 2019 episodes of the Netflix series Lucifer . [5] In 2021, Stocklin and Ballinger, began a weekly podcast titled Relax! with Colleen and Erik. [14] In 2021 and 2022, he played Matt in the television series Good Trouble . [15]
Stocklin began dating Colleen Ballinger, his co-star from Haters Back Off , by early 2018. [16] [17] The couple wed later the same year. [13] They have three children. [18]

Ballinger displays videos of the comically talentless, egotistical, misguided and quirky character on her YouTube channel. In these videos, the character sings and dances badly, gives inept "tutorials", recounts her daily activities, discusses current events that she often misunderstands, collaborates with other YouTubers, and rants about her critics, reading examples of hate mail directed at the character on social media; she responds to them with her catchphrase: "Haters Back Off!"

Haters Back Off is an American comedy television series based on the YouTube character Miranda Sings created by Colleen Ballinger. Its two seasons were released on Netflix in October 2016 and 2017, respectively. The "surreal and absurd" series centers around the family life of Miranda Sings, a sheltered, self-absorbed, overconfident and untalented young performer who seeks fame on YouTube. The half-hour episodes depict Miranda's road to fame, and the price she pays for trampling on the feelings of others. The show stars Colleen Ballinger as Miranda, Angela Kinsey as her mother Bethany, Steve Little as her uncle Jim, Francesca Reale as her sister Emily, and Erik Stocklin as her best friend and love interest, Patrick.
