In 2003 he became the Super Heavy World Jiu-jitsu Champion. [1] He began his MMA career in the same year when he was defeated by Maurício Rua in his first fight by TKO. [2]

In 2005 he defeated Rodrigo Gripp de Sousa by submission in the first round at the Storm Samurai event. [3]

Newton is one of only a few MMA athletes to ever be allowed to compete in the UFC and Pride FC at the same time. Egan Inoue is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner, former mixed martial artist and racquetball competitor. A two-time International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Champion, Inoue is a two-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion in colored belts, the first non-Brazilian to win a gold medal at the World Jiu Jitsu Championship.

Saulo Mendonça Ribeiro Filho is a Brazilian submission grappler and former mixed martial artist. He is a 6th-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and brother of Xande Ribeiro. After earning a black belt in judo, he began his training of Brazilian jiu-jitsu in Rio de Janeiro under Royler Gracie, the son of Hélio Gracie, at Gracie Humaitá.


Antônio "Nino" Schembri is a Brazilian practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and former mixed martial artist. He is a former member of the Chute Boxe Academy and currently trains with Black House. Schembri is highly accomplished in sport BJJ, having won the 1996 Brazilian National Championship in the absolute division world championships in his weight class back to back in 1997/1998. Schembri has a unique style of Jiu-Jitsu with focus on submission and creative attacks. At 1999 Pan-American he had phenomenal wins and became known as "El Nino", in analogy to the natural phenomenon El Niño.
