Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Gloucestershire. Founded in 1870, Gloucestershire has always been first-class and has played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club played its first senior match in 1870 and W. G. Grace was their captain. The club plays home games at the Bristol County Ground in the Bishopston area of north Bristol. A number of games are also played at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival at the College Ground, Cheltenham and matches have also been played at the Gloucester cricket festival at The King's School, Gloucester.
Jeremy William Lloyds was an English cricket player and umpire. A left-handed batsman and right-arm off break bowler, he played for Somerset, Orange Free State and Gloucestershire before his retirement in 1991. Lloyds made his umpiring debut in 1996 and graduated to county cricket in 1998 and international games in 2000.

Steven Kirby is an English retired first-class cricketer, and more recently a cricket coach. Kirby played for Yorkshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset, before retiring from playing in 2014. In 2020, he rejoined Somerset as their bowling coach.

Ernest Robson was an English cricketer who played over 400 first-class matches for Somerset County Cricket Club between 1895 and 1923. Also played professional football as a right-back in Association Football playing for Cheshire, Somerset County and Bristol South End which is currently known as Bristol City Football Club.
Edward Sainsbury was an English cricketer who represented, and captained, Somerset County Cricket Club in the late 19th century. During a 10-year first-class cricket career, he also represented Gloucestershire and the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

David Linzee Evans played first-class cricket for Gloucestershire from 1889 to 1891 and for Somerset in 1894, 1895 and 1902.
Arthur Ernest Sydney Rippon was an English cricketer who played 102 first-class cricket matches for Somerset as a batsman between 1914 and 1937. In many of his early first-class matches in 1914 and 1919, he opened the batting with his identical twin brother, Dudley Rippon.
The Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union is the union responsible for rugby union in the county of Gloucestershire, England and is one of the constituent bodies of the national Rugby Football Union. Formed in 1878, it has won the county championship on numerous occasions.
The 1885 season was an annus horribilis for Somerset County Cricket Club. Captained by Ted Sainsbury, who had taken over from Stephen Newton, captain for the previous three seasons, they played six first-class cricket matches. Somerset's only win of the season came in their first match; all the other were lost. Two of the losses, those away against Gloucestershire and Surrey, number among the county's ten heaviest defeats. Somerset were unable to field a full team for their fourth match, which coupled with their poor results and lack of fixtures resulted in the club being stripped of its first-class status at the end of the season.
Ernest George Murdock was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Somerset in 1885 and for Gloucestershire in 1889. He was born at Keynsham, Somerset and died at Bower Ashton, also in Somerset.
The West Women's cricket team, also known as West of England Women and Western Counties Women, was the women's representative cricket team for South West England. They competed in the Women's Area Championship from 1980 to 1996 and in the Women's County Championship from 1997 to 1999, after which they were replaced by Somerset. They were runners-up in the Area Championship in 1986, and competed in Division Two of the Championship in their final season of existence.

They were captained by Stephen Newton, and played eight first-class matches, five against county opposition, two against the Marylebone Cricket Club and one against the touring Australian team. They only won one of the eight contests, that against Hampshire at Taunton. Of the other matches, one was drawn and the other six were all losses for Somerset. Wisden Cricketers' Almanack described the season as "disastrous", but the publication qualified this statement with mild optimism for 1883.

Morgan Luc Evans is a Welsh rugby league footballer who plays for the West Wales Raiders in The Betfred League 1. He began his career playing with his university rugby league team and made his début with the Wales national rugby league team, in 2014 in a charity match against the Keighley Cougars. In 2015, he played prop during Wales's successful European Cup campaign. As well as the West Wales Raiders, he has also played for the clubs Gloucestershire All Golds, South Wales Scorpions and Coventry Bears.
The 2017 Royal London One-Day Cup tournament was a limited overs cricket competition that forms part of the 2017 domestic cricket season in England and Wales. Matches were contested over 50 overs per side and had List A cricket status. All eighteen First-class counties competed in the tournament which ran from the end of April with the final taking place at Lord's on 1 July. Nottinghamshire won the tournament, defeating Surrey in the final. The defending champions were Warwickshire.
