Alfred Binet,born Alfredo Binetti,was a French psychologist who invented the first practical IQ test,the Binet–Simon test. In 1904,the French Ministry of Education asked psychologist Alfred Binet to devise a method that would determine which students did not learn effectively from regular classroom instruction so they could be given remedial work. Along with his collaborator Théodore Simon,Binet published revisions of his test in 1908 and 1911,the last of which appeared just before his death.

Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve Gowda is an Indian politician who served as the 11th prime minister of India from 1 June 1996 to 21 April 1997. He was previously the 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996. He presently is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing Karnataka. He is the national president of the Janata Dal (Secular) party. Born in a farming family,he joined the Indian National Congress party in 1953,and remained a member until 1962. He was imprisoned during the Emergency. He became President of the state unit of Janata Dal in 1994,and was considered to be a driving force in the party's victory in Karnataka. He served as the 8th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996. In the 1996 general elections,no party won enough seats to form a government. When the United Front,a coalition of regional parties,formed the central government with the support of the Congress,Deve Gowda was unexpectedly chosen to head the government and was elected Prime Minister. During his tenure as prime minister,he also served as Home Minister for some time. His prime ministerial tenure lasted for less than a year. After his prime ministerial tenure,he was elected to the 12th (1998),14th (2004),15th,and 16th Lok Sabha,as Member of Parliament for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. He lost Lok Sabha elections in 2019 from Tumkuru but has been elected to Rajya Sabha since.

Jacques Philippe Marie Binet was a French mathematician,physicist and astronomer born in Rennes;he died in Paris,France,in 1856. He made significant contributions to number theory,and the mathematical foundations of matrix algebra which would later lead to important contributions by Cayley and others. In his memoir on the theory of the conjugate axis and of the moment of inertia of bodies he enumerated the principle now known as Binet's theorem. He is also recognized as the first to describe the rule for multiplying matrices in 1812,and Binet's formula expressing Fibonacci numbers in closed form is named in his honour,although the same result was known to Abraham de Moivre a century earlier.
Théodore Simon was a French psychologist who worked with Alfred Binet to develop the Binet-Simon scale,one of the most widely used scales in the world for measuring intelligence. This scale was revised in 1908 and 1911,and served as a template for the development of newer scales. Simon worked at various hospitals throughout France,including Sainte-Anne and Dury-les-Amiens. He also worked as the head psychiatrist at Saint-Yon hospital and as a medical director at Perray-Vaucluse. He was also the founder of the first nursing school in psychiatry at the Maison Blanche hospital in Neuilly-sur-Marne,in 1946. The training institute which continues to this day bears his name.

RenéBinet was a French fascist political activist. Initially a Trotskyist in the 1930s,he espoused fascism during World War II and joined the SS Charlemagne Division. Soon after the end of the war,Binet became involved in numerous neo-fascist and white supremacist publications and parties. He wrote the 1950 book Théorie du racisme,deemed influential on the European far-right at large. Binet died in a car accident in 1957,aged 44.
