Esko Salminen (born 12 October 1940) is a Finnish actor with careers on television, the stage and on the silver screen.

Personal life

Born in Helsinki, Salminen's parents were actor Unto Salminen  [ fi ] and actress Kyllikki Väre  [ fi ]. He is of partial Russian descent through his biological father, actor and singer Tauno Palo, whose maternal grandfather was a Russian soldier. [1] [2] Actors Jukka-Pekka Palo  [ fi ], Martti Palo  [ fi ] and Pertti Palo  [ fi ] are his half-brothers. [3]

Salminen has been married to actress Rose-Marie Precht  [ fi ], dancer Riikka Korppi-Tommola  [ fi ] and, since 1989, to actress Aino Seppo  [ fi ]. He has two children with actress Heidi Krohn  [ fi ], one of whom is actor Kristo Salminen  [ fi ]. [1] Actresses Sonja Salminen  [ fi ] and Kreeta Salminen  [ fi ] are also Salminen's children. [4]

Pertti Olavi "Spede" Pasanen was a Finnish film director and producer, comedian, and inventor. During his career he directed, wrote, produced or acted in about 50 movies and participated in numerous TV productions, including the comedy Spede Show and the game-show Speden Spelit. Much of his more commercial work was in collaboration with Vesa-Matti Loiri and Simo Salminen. Pasanen's films and TV shows, often made quickly and on a low budget, usually received little critical recognition but were popular among Finnish audiences from the 1960s onwards. He was the owner of his own film production company, Filmituotanto Spede Pasanen Ky.

Salatut elämät is a Finnish television soap opera that premiered on MTV3 on 25 January 1999. The series' storylines follow the daily lives of several families who live in the same apartment block in Helsinki. The series primarily centres on the residents of Pihlajakatu and its neighbouring areas. Only six of the original twenty characters Ismo, Kalle, Ulla, Aki, Kari and Elina still remain in the series, and most of the series' current characters have made their debuts in 2014 or later. Ismo is the only character who has never left the series.

Rentun Ruusu is a 2001 Finnish biographical film drama directed and written by Timo Koivusalo. The film is based on the life of Antti Yrjö Hammarberg who is still today a very popular singer in Finland. The film stars Martti Suosalo and Ilkka Koivula with Vexi Salmi as narrator. The film premiered in Helsinki on 12 January 2001. The name Rentun ruusu is from Irwin Goodman's song, and the album Rentun ruusu was his biggest and sold 125,000 copies.

Speedy Gonzales – noin 7 veljeksen poika (1970) is a Finnish western comedy directed by Ere Kokkonen, and written by Kokkonen with Spede Pasanen and Vesa-Matti Loiri. The title refers to Pasanen's 1968 film Noin seitsemän veljestä, though the movie does not otherwise link to it in any way. Neither has it anything to do with the cartoon character Speedy Gonzales.

It is based on the 1984 novel of the same name by Anna-Leena Härkönen. The miniseries is produced by Yleisradio. The miniseries was later published by the director as three-part 50-minute episodes.
