Estonian Actuarial Society

The Estonian Actuarial Society (Estonian : Eesti Aktuaaride Liit, EAL) is the association of actuaries in Estonia. The Society was established on 5 January 1999. [1] It is a full member of the International Actuarial Association and the Groupe Consultatif. As of 2004, the Society has 23 members, 7 of them fully qualified.

The Austrian Actuarial Society is the association of actuaries in Austria. The Society was established in 1971. It is a full member of the International Actuarial Association and the Groupe Consultatif. The Society has more than 500 members, 367 of them fully qualified. Current president of the Society is Hartwig Sorger (since 26 June 2020.

The Actuarial Society of Finland is the association of actuaries in Finland. The Society was founded on 21 April 1922. It is a full member of the International Actuarial Association and the Groupe Consultatif. The Society has about 300 members.

Actuarial Society of Malaysia was founded on 5 October 1978. ASM is the only representative body for the actuarial profession in Malaysia. Thus, it is the platform for members of the actuarial profession to raise and discuss technical and public interest issues related to the practice of the profession; to communicate such issues to relevant parties including the public, industry regulators and corporate stakeholders; to provide educational support to actuarial students and professional development to qualified actuaries; and to provide space for members of the profession to build relationships.

The Actuarial Society of Turkey is the association of actuaries in Turkey. It is a professional organisation whose purpose is the advancement of actuarial science applied to life, health, property, casualty, pension and similar risk exposures.

The actuarial credentialing and exam process usually requires passing a rigorous series of professional examinations, most often taking several years in total, before one can become recognized as a credentialed actuary. In some countries, such as Denmark, most study takes place in a university setting. In others, such as the U.S., most study takes place during employment through a series of examinations. In the UK, and countries based on its process, there is a hybrid university-exam structure.

Patrick L. Brockett is an endowed Chaired Professor within the Information, Risk and Operations Management, Finance, and Mathematics departments at The University of Texas at Austin. He is the Director of the Risk Management and Insurance Program, Director for the Center of Risk Management and Insurance, and Director for the Minor/Certificate in Risk Management Program. He is also an Affiliated Faculty Member in the University of Texas- Austin Division of Statistics & Scientific Computation. He is known for his research in statistics, probability, actuarial science, quantitative methods in business and social sciences, and risk and insurance. The American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA) endowed and named a research award in his honor: The Patrick Brockett & Arnold Shapiro Actuarial Research Award, awarded to the actuarial journal article that makes the best contribution of interest to ARIA risk management and insurance researchers.

Herbert Julius von Denffer was a German actuarial mathematician. He was born in Narva, Estonia. During World War II, Denffer worked as a cryptanalyst in Referat F, the Mathematical Referat, as part of the Inspectorate 7/VI, that was the signals intelligence agency of the Wehrmacht, before and during World War II. He would later work for the General der Nachrichtenaufklärung, the successor organization to the In 7/VI, specifically undertaking research in general theory of cryptography.

Bettye Anne Busbee Case is Olga Larson Professor Emerita of Mathematics at Florida State University. Her mathematical research concerns complex variables; she has also published on mathematics education and the history of mathematics. She is the editor of the books A Century of Mathematical Meetings and Complexities: Women in Mathematics.
