Eucharia Njideka Iyiazi (born 19 November 1973) [1] [2] is a Paralympian athlete from Nigeria competing mainly in category F57/58 shot put and discus throw events. She has competed at four paralympics taking two gold, a silver and two bronze medals. [3]

Iyiazi competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. There, she won a gold medal in both the women's shot putt F57/F58 event and the women’s discus throw F57/F58 event. [3] At the Beijing Paralympics, Iyiazzi set the world and Paralympic record for the F58 class in shot put [2] and discus. [4]

Iyiazi took a bronze medal in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London and then threw 27.54m to again take the discus bronze at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. [3]

1972 Summer Paralympics medal table

The 21st International Stoke Mandeville Games, later known as the 1972 Summer Paralympics was an international multi-sport event held in Heidelberg, West Germany, from August 2 to 11, 1972, in which athletes with physical disabilities competed against one another. The German Disabled Sports Association planned to stage the Games in Munich following the 1972 Olympic Games, however the Olympic village in Munich was designated to be closed and converted into private apartments. The organisers tried to arrange for alternative accommodation for the athletes but when this was not possible the city of Heidelberg stepped in with an invite to stage the Games at the University of Heidelberg's Institute for Physical Training.

Kath Proudfoot Australian Paralympic athlete

Katherine Proudfoot is a cerebral palsy athlete from Australia competing mainly in throwing events. She competed in the F36 classification at the 2008, 2012 and the 2016 Summer Paralympics, winning medals at each Game. Following a medical review request in early 2017, she now competes in seated throws in the F32 classification. At the 2017 Australian Athletics Championships she threw 7.04m in the Women's Shot Put Secured event, bettering the Women's F32 shot put world record mark of 6.55m.

F7, also SP7, is a wheelchair sport classification that corresponds to the neurological level S1- S2. Historically, it has been referred to as Lower 5. It is characterized by people having their lower limb muscles strength and function impacted. People in the SP7 class generally have good sitting balance and some trunk movement backwards and forwards. One side may be stronger than the other.
