European Netball Championship

The European Netball Championship (also known as the Netball Europe Championships) is an annual netball competition organised by Netball Europe. The Championships or "Open" section features the highest-ranked European nations, and the "Challenge" section features teams below that level. Occasionally under 21 and under 17 divisions have been incorporated in the competition.

History

The 2013 Championship title was won by Wales, the first time England had not won. England were runners up with Northern Ireland third. Fourth place were Scotland. [1] The English side is usually made up of players not picked for the national team in major tournaments like the World Cup and Commonwealth Games. The Challenge was won by Ireland. Switzerland were runners up with Gibraltar third. [2]

The 2014 Championship title was won by Wales with England not sending a team. Runners up were Scotland with Northern Ireland third. Fourth place were Ireland. [3]

The 2015 saw the first competition with guest teams. Championship title was won by England. Runners up were South Africa with Northern Ireland third. Fourth place were Wales. Fifth place was Trinidad and Tobago with Scotland sixth. [4]

The 2016 saw the Championship title was won by England. Runners up were Wales with Scotland third. Fourth place were Northern Ireland. [5] The Challenge was won by Grenada. Runners up were Ireland with United States third. Other countries playing were Gibraltar fourth, Malta fifth and Israel sixth. [6]

The 2017 saw the Championship title was won by England. Runners up were Northern Ireland with Scotland third. Fourth place were Wales and fifth was Fiji. [7]

2004 European Parliament election in the United Kingdom

The 2004 European Parliament election was the United Kingdom's part of the wider 2004 European Parliament election which was held between 10 and 13 June 2004 in the 25 member states of the European Union. The United Kingdom's part of this election was held on Thursday 10 June 2004. The election also coincided with the 2004 local elections and the London Assembly and mayoral elections. In total, 78 Members of the European Parliament were elected from the United Kingdom using proportional representation.

Warren Gatland New Zealand rugby union coach

Warren David Gatland is a New Zealand rugby union coach, formerly the head coach of Wales. While he was coach between 2007 and 2019, Wales won four Six Nations titles, including three Grand Slams, and reached the semi-finals of the 2011 and 2019 Rugby World Cups. Gatland was also head coach of the British and Irish Lions on their 2013 tour of Australia, where they won the Test series 2–1, and 2017 tour of New Zealand, when the series was drawn.

2011 World Netball Championships

The 2011 World Netball Championships was the 13th edition of the INF Netball World Cup, a quadrennial premier event in international netball. It was held in Singapore from 3–10 July. All 48 matches were played at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Singapore was chosen as the host nation at the 2007 IFNA Congress in Auckland.

Michael Cheika is an Australian rugby coach and former player. He was the coach of the Australian national team from 2014 to 2019. In 2015, he received the World Rugby Coach of the Year award.

2009 European Parliament election in the United Kingdom

The European Parliament election was the United Kingdom's component of the 2009 European Parliament election, the voting for which was held on Thursday 4 June 2009. The election was held concurrently with the 2009 local elections in England. In total, 72 Members of the European Parliament were elected from the United Kingdom using proportional representation.

The Ireland women's national rugby union team represents Ireland in international women's rugby union competitions such as the Women's Six Nations Championship and the Women's Rugby World Cup. They have also represented Ireland in the FIRA Women's European Championship. Ireland won the 2013 and 2015 Women's Six Nations Championships. In 2013 they also achieved both a Triple Crown and Grand Slam. They finished fourth in the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup after defeating New Zealand in the pool stages. Ireland hosted the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup. The team was originally organised by the Irish Women's Rugby Football Union. However, since 2009 it has been organised by the Irish Rugby Football Union

Miss Scotland is a national beauty pageant in Scotland. Entrants must hold a British passport to enter. The contest, whose title is owned by the Miss World organisation, is organised each year by Janis Sue Smith Director of The Catwalk Academy

Joe Schmidt (rugby union) Rugby player

Josef Schmidt is a New Zealand-born rugby union coach, who was the head coach of Ireland from 2013–2019. In six years under his leadership, Ireland won three Six Nations Championships, and recorded their first-ever wins over his home nation of New Zealand. Schmidt's first head coaching role in Europe was with Leinster Rugby, beginning in 2010. He brought unprecedented success to the province, reaching six finals and winning four trophies in three years. He was previously an assistant coach with the Blues and Clermont Auvergne.

Netball in Europe

Netball is primarily played in Commonwealth countries, which were heavily involved in standardising the rules for netball. The Federation of European Netball Associations (FENA), sometimes referred to as Netball Europe, is the governing body for netball in the Europe netball region. The organisation was created in 1989/1990. As of August 2016, the English women's national team was ranked 3rd in the world, Wales is ranked 8th, Scotland is ranked 10th, Northern Ireland is ranked 12th, Ireland are ranked 25th, Gibraltar are ranked 31st, Malta are ranked 32nd and Switzerland are ranked 34th.

2011 European Curling Championships

The 2011 Le Gruyère European Curling Championships were held in Moscow, Russia from December 2 to 10. The Group C competitions were held from September 30 to October 8 in Tårnby, Denmark.

The Northern Ireland national netball team represent Northern Ireland in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the European Netball Championship and the Nations Cup. The team was founded in 1955. Northern Ireland won the Nations Cup in both 2009 and 2015 and were silver medallists at the 2012 and 2017 European Netball Championships. As of 21 July 2019, Northern Ireland are listed 11th on the INF World Rankings. Since 2019 the team has been sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and is sometimes referred to as the PwC Warriors.

2014 European Parliament election in the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom's component of the 2014 European Parliament election was held on Thursday 22 May 2014, coinciding with the 2014 local elections in England and Northern Ireland. In total, 73 Members of the European Parliament were elected from the United Kingdom using proportional representation. England, Scotland and Wales use a closed-list party list system of PR, while Northern Ireland used the single transferable vote (STV).

Netball Europe

Netball Europe is the regional body within the International Federation of Netball Associations that governs netball across Europe. The European region has eleven full members and three associate members. Netball Europe runs the annual European Netball Championships for open, challenge and under-age sections.

Chelsea Lewis is a Wales netball international. She represented Wales at the 2011 and 2015 Netball World Cups and at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also a member of the Wales teams that won the 2010 Netball Singapore Nations Cup and the 2013 and 2014 European Netball Championships. At club level she has played for Celtic Dragons and Team Bath in the Netball Superleague.

Noleen Lennon, also known as Noleen Armstrong, is a former Northern Ireland netball international. She represented Northern Ireland at the 2003, 2011 and 2019 Netball World Cups and at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also a member of the Northern Ireland teams that were silver medallists at the 2012 and 2017 European Netball Championships. She captained Northern Ireland when they won the 2009 Nations Cup and then again at the 2011 World Netball Championships.
