Evaristo Merino Canales de la Cerda (died 27 August 1930) was the ninth Mayor of the commune of Pichilemu,office which he held between May 1927 and May 1928,although the latter date is disputed.
Evaristo Merino Canales,son of Evaristo Merino and Rita Canales married Rosa Silva Valenzuela on 8 June 1896,with whom he had ten children:Antonieta,Raquel,Eduardo,Jorge,Adolfo,Rosa,Evaristo,Marcial,Modesto,and Sergio. In March 1900,he began working as administrator of Agustín Ross Edwards' resort in Pichilemu,and did so until the death of Ross in October 1926. [1]
He was appointed mayor of the junta de vecinos (neighbors' council) of Pichilemu by decree of the president on 15 May 1927. Local historian and journalist JoséArraño Acevedo stated that Merino's mayorship lasted until his resignation in February 1928,as he wanted to "move definitely to his native Curicó", [1] while Antonio Saldías asserts Merino's mayorship lasted until 14 May 1928. [2]
On 27 August 1930, [3] just two years and a half since he left Pichilemu,he died in Curicó,and his ashes were buried at the local cemetery,in a mausoleum which he shares with his wife,who died in August 1925. [1]
JoséSantos Arraño Acevedo was a Chilean journalist and historian,who worked in several regional newspapers,including El Rancagüino from Rancagua,La Discusión from Chillán,amid others. He also wrote two books on the history of Pichilemu:Pichilemu y Sus Alrededores Turísticos and Hombres y Cosas de Pichilemu.
Agustín Ross Cultural Centre,previously known as Casino Ross,is the cultural center of the city of Pichilemu in Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins Region,Chile. It was constructed between 1906 and 1909 at the request of politician Agustín Ross Edwards. The structure of the cultural center is very similar to that of the Grand Trianon in Versailles,France.

According to Chilean historiographer JoséToribio Medina on his book Los Restos Indígenas de Pichilemu (1908),Spanish conqueror Pedro de Valdivia gave Topocalma encomienda,in which Pichilemu was supposed to be,to Juan Gómez de Almagro,on January 24,1544.
The Mayor of Pichilemu is an elected politician who is the head of the executive branch of government of the commune of Pichilemu,Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins Region,Chile. The mayor presides over the local city council,composed of six members,and serves as the civic representative of the commune. JoséMaría Caro Martínez was a Chilean politician and civil servant. In May 1894,he was unanimously elected as the first mayor of the commune of Pichilemu,with Pedro Nolasco de Mira and Francisco Reyes made second and third magistrate respectively. Caro Martínez had previously served for several years as administrator or llavero of the San Antonio de Petrel hacienda and,between 1891 and 1892,was the Subdelegate of the 13th Subdelegation of San Fernando Department which comprised the district of Cáhuil.
Pichilemu,sometimes referred to as El Pichilemu or El Pichilemo,was a Pichileminian newspaper published for the first time in 1944 by Carlos Rojas Pavez,municipal secretary and mayor of Pichilemu from 1967 to 1971. Rojas published the newspaper with the collaboration of JoséArraño Acevedo and Miguel Larravide Blanco. It was later published by Washington Saldías González between 1986 and 1990,and then again in 1996 by Carlos Carmona Plá. In 2000,Saldías turned it into an online-only newspaper,named Pichilemu News.
RenéGabriel Maturana Maldonado was a Chilean journalist and the 36th Mayor of Pichilemu,holding the position from his appointment by President Augusto Pinochet Ugarte on 31 August 1984 until his resignation in April 1992.

Armando Caroca Rojas was the 20th Mayor of the commune of Pichilemu,office which he held between May 1944 and May 1947. He was succeeded by Carlos Echazarreta Larraín. He also was a regidor of Pichilemu for several terms.
Carlos JoséRamón Echazarreta Iñiguez was the 27th and 30th Mayor of the commune of Pichilemu,office which he held between May 1963 and May 1967,and through the early months of the Augusto Pinochet military regime,between September and November 1973. In 1967 he was succeeded by Carlos Rojas Pavez,and in 1973 he was succeeded by Mario Urrutia Carrasco. Echazarreta also was a regidor of Pichilemu for several terms between 1959 and 1973.
Carlos Ignacio Rojas Pavez was the 28th Mayor of the commune of Pichilemu,office which he held between May 1967 and May 1971. For almost three decades,Rojas Pavez worked as the municipal secretary of Pichilemu,and in 1944,along with JoséArraño Acevedo and Miguel Larravide Blanco,founded Pichilemu,a newspaper focused in local stories.
Washington Saldías Fuentealba was the 29th Mayor of the commune of Pichilemu,office which he held between May 1971 and September 1973:his term was interrupted by the 1973 Chilean coup d'état,which put General Augusto Pinochet in the power of the country,and who later appointed Carlos Echazarreta Iñiguez as the successor of Saldías. Saldías was also regidor of the commune of Pichilemu between 1963 and 1971,and a founding member of the Club Aéreo de Pichilemu.
El Marino was a Chilean daily newspaper,based in Pichilemu,Cardenal Caro province. It was founded on 14 January 1917 by newspaper editor Augusto Ramírez Olivares,and circulated between January and March 1917.
Pichilemu,originally known as Pichilemo,is a beach resort city and commune in central Chile,and capital of Cardenal Caro Province in the O'Higgins Region. The commune comprises an urban centre and twenty-two villages,including Ciruelos,Cáhuil,and Espinillo. It is located southwest of Santiago. Pichilemu had over 13,000 residents as of 2012.
