Kristin Otto is a German Olympic swimming champion. She is most famous for being the first woman to win six gold medals at a single Olympic Games, doing so at the 1988 Seoul Olympic games. In long course, she held the world records in the 100 meter and 200 meter freestyle events. Otto was also the first woman to swim the short course 100 meter backstroke in under a minute, doing so at an international short course meet at Indiana University in 1983.

Ute Geweniger is a former breaststroke and medley swimmer who was a leading member of the East German swimming team in the 1980s. She won two Olympic gold medals, in the 100 m breaststroke and 4×100 m medley relay at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, and set seven individual and two relay world records. She was named by Swimming World Magazine as World Swimmer of the Year in 1983 and as the European Swimmer of the Year in 1981 and 1983.
Silke Hörner is a German former breaststroke swimmer, a leading member of the 1980s East German swimming team. She won two Olympic gold medals, in the 200 m breaststroke and 4×100 m medley relay at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, and set four individual world records. She was named by Swimming World Magazine as European Swimmer of the Year in 1985 and 1987, but her achievements are regarded with suspicion due to the state-run systematic doping program run by East Germany. In 1991, former East German swimming coach Michael Regner claimed that in the 1980s he had been instructed to distribute anabolic steroids to team swimmers, including Hörner.
Gail Neall, also known by her married name Gail Yeo, is an Australian former medley swimmer who raced in the 1970s. She won a gold medal in the 400-metre individual medley at the 1972 Summer Olympics in world record time.
Cathleen Großmann, formerly called Cathleen Stolze, is a former backstroke and medley swimmer from Germany, who competed at two consecutive Summer Olympics for her native country, starting in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. There she won the bronze medal in the 200 m backstroke. Rund retired from international competition after the Sydney Olympics in 2000. In 2004, she moved to Frankfurt to work as a swimming trainer.
Cornelia Sirch is a former East German backstroke swimmer. She competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics in three events and won two bronze medals in the 100 m and 200 m backstroke and a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay, in which she swam in a preliminary round. In 1982 she was named Swimming World's European Swimmer of the Year, after winning 200 m backstroke at the World Championships in Guayaguil in a world record time of 2:09.91, becoming the first woman to dip under 2 minutes 10 seconds.
Kathleen Nord is a former butterfly and medley swimmer from East Germany. She won the gold medal in the 200 m butterfly at the 1988 Summer Olympics and finished fifth in the 400 m individual medley. Between 1982 and 1989 she won six gold, two silver and three bronze medals in individual medley and butterfly events at European and world championships. She missed the 1984 Summer Olympics due to their boycott by East Germany and competed at the Friendship Games instead, winning a silver medal in the 400 m individual medley.

She competed at the 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics in five events in total and won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay in 1976, swimming for the East German team in a preliminary round. Individually, she won a bronze medal in the 200 m butterfly in 1976.
Carola Nitschke is a retired East German swimmer. She competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics in the 100 m and 200 m breaststroke and finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively. She also won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay, though she swam only in a preliminary round. Shortly before the Olympics she set world records in the 4 × 100 m medley relay and 100 m breaststroke. She was only fourteen at the time. Next year she won a gold and a silver medal in these events at the 1977 European Aquatics Championships.
Jessica Evelyn Pengelly is a South African-born Australian swimmer, who specializes in freestyle and individual medley events. A 2008 Olympian, she has claimed multiple South African championship titles and national records in the individual medley, and won a total of five medals at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria. Pengelly also set two South African records in the freestyle relays at the 2008 FINA World Short Course Championships in Manchester, England, and at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China.
Peter Rund is a retired German water polo player and swimmer. He competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics, and finished in sixth place with the East German team, contributing 13 goals in 9 matches. He also competed in swimming at the national level, winning the East German championships in the 4×100 m freestyle relay in 1970.
