The Everglades Correctional Institution (also ECI) is a Level 5 security prison facility for adult males in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, in the state of Florida, near Miami. [1] Originally planned as a mental health facility, it was converted to a major Correctional institution in 1995.[ citation needed ]

The Total Staff is 302 (as of July 2012) and has a Maximum Inmate Capacity of 1,788. [2] [3]

In 2022, Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin recorded the album Kingdom Book One at the facility, with 1,300 inmates participating in the recording. [4] The album aimed to spotlight the injustices around mass incarceration in the United States. [5]

Florida State Prison (FSP), otherwise known as Raiford Prison, is a correctional institution located in unincorporated Bradford County, Florida. It was formerly known as the "Florida State Prison-East Unit" as it was originally part of Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida. The facility, a part of the Florida Department of Corrections, is located on State Road 16 right across the border from Union County. The institution opened in 1961, even though construction was not completed until 1968. With a maximum population of over 1,400 inmates, FSP is one of the largest prisons in the state. FSP houses one of the state's three death row cell blocks, and the state's execution chamber. Union Correctional Institution also houses male death row inmates while Lowell Annex houses female death row inmates.

State Road 997, also known as Krome Avenue and West 177th Avenue is a 36.7-mile-long (59.1 km) north–south state highway in western Miami-Dade County, Florida. Maverick City Music is an American contemporary worship music collective founded by Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay originating from Atlanta. The collective made its debut in 2019 with the release of two extended plays, Maverick City, Vol. 1 and Maverick City, Vol. 2. In 2020, Maverick City Music released two live albums: Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1 and Maverick City, Vol. 3 Pt. 2, with the former featuring the singles, "Man of Your Word" and "Promises".
