Evwreni is a town in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. It is an oil-producing area that has about 14 oil wells, with flow and compressor stations operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria.
It is 154.6 kilometres by road to Port Harcourt and 45.3 kilometres to Warri.
Evwreni is a cultural unit of the Urhobo ethnic nationality, the Ovie of Evwreni Kingdom is the traditional leader of the clan which is made up of four major communities (also referred to as quarters), they include Urevwe, Okpawha, Uneni and Unenurhie, the other minor quarters are Erhurigbedi, Ivwrorode and Iwrorha. Disputes over the distribution of oil royalties and agitations, mainly from the Unenurhie community, to be recognized as a separate kingdom, [2] [3] has resulted in recurrent communal clashes. [4] On 20 January 2020, the traditional ruler of Evwreni, Ovie Owin Kumani was reportedly dethroned and murdered by angry youths that were dissatisfied over an alleged embezzlement of royalties paid to the community by the Shell Petroleum Development Company. Evwreni is an oil-rich community that is host to about 14 oil wells that feed the Evwreni flowstation that was commissioned in 1967. This onshore facility is equipped with one stabilization train and has a total installed capacity of 30,000 barrels of oil per day. [7]

The Itsekiri are an ethnic group who mainly inhabit Nigeria's Niger Delta area. They speak a Yoruboid language and can be found in Ondo, Edo and Delta State. The Itsekiris presently transcends a population of over 1 million people and live mainly in parts of Ondo, Edo and majorly in the Warri South, Warri North and Warri South West local government districts of Delta State on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria.

Edmund Maduabebe Daukoru is a former Nigerian Minister of State for Energy and was Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in 2006. He became the Amayanabo, or traditional ruler, of Nembe Kingdom in 2008. Also Chairman of South South Monarchs forum in the PGEJ regime.

Kokori is one of the six suburban 'states' of the Agbon 'kingdom' in LGA Ethiope East, Delta State, Nigeria. The other 'states' are Okpara, Eku, Ovu, Orhoakpor, and Igun.
Abraka, is a town in Delta state, Nigeria. It is also home to two of the main 24 urhobo kingdoms. It is mostly known as a university town and has the main campus of the Delta State University located there. Abraka town is a favourite destination for domestic and international tourists. The Abraka beach is famous for its natural flowing spring water, and has sports recreational facilities for outdoor activities like canoeing, fishing, swimming, barbecue and picnicking.
The Orhuwhorun people
The Warri Crisis was a series of conflicts in Delta State, Nigeria between 1997 and 2003 between the Itsekiri, the Ijaw ethnic groups. Over 200,000 people were displaced by the Warri conflict between 1999 and 2006. Over 700,000 people were displaced during this period by violence in Delta State overall.
The Urhobos are people located in southern Nigeria, near the northwestern Niger Delta.
The Agbon Kingdom is one of twenty-four subunits of the Urhobo people that have been in existence since before the rise of the Benin Empire in the 1440s and before the arrival of the Portuguese in the Western Niger Delta in the 1480s.
Irri is located in the Isoko South local government area of Delta state, Nigeria. It is one of the petroleum producing communities in Nigeria. It is bordered by Uzere, Aviara, Oyede, Idheze and Oleh. Descendants of Irri migrated to form other small villages and towns, such like Ada, Idheze, Ikpide, Ivrogbo, Iwreogboko, Canaan Irri, Ivori, Uro Irri, etc, and they are usually referred to as children of Irri Kingdom. The people are referred to as Emo Irri, which means children of Irri.
Chamberlain Oyibocha Orovwuje, Ogurimerime I, was the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom from 1958 till 2012. He was also the former chairman of Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers. He ruled the traditional kingdom of Agbon for 54 years and clinched the title of the longest reigning monarch in Delta State.
The 2016Niger Delta conflict is an ongoing conflict around the Niger Delta region of Nigeria in a bid for the secession of the region, which was a part of the breakaway state of Biafra. It follows on-and-off conflict in the Christian-dominated southern Niger Delta in the preceding years, as well as an insurgency in the Muslim-dominated northeast.
Luke Erede Ejohwomu, Adakaji was the Ovie of Abraka Kingdom in Nigeria. He hailed from the Ovowodo/Umeghe ruling house. His Majesty was born on 1 June 1936 to the family of Erede Ejohwomu and Aliatete Ejohwomu. Under his uncle, Patrick Ejohwomu, he commenced his primary school education in 1944 at the Native Authority (N.A.) School, Amai. In 1950, he moved to the N.A. School, Otu-Jeremi; in 1951, he transferred to the Catholic School at Okpara Water Side where he obtained the standard six certificate. In 1952, he gained admission into St. Thomas College, Ibusa from where he obtained Teacher Grade Two Certificate in 1956.
Jesse Town is a clan and settlement in the Ethiope area of Nigeria's Delta State. It has its own native government authority led by an Ovie as is typical of other Urhobo towns. The town is host to onshore petroleum deposits.
