Fatemeh Khavari (born 26 January 2000), is an Iranian born activist who focus on Afghan refugees who arrived in Sweden mainly 2015.
Khavari came to Sweden from Teheran, Iran, with her mother and siblings in 2015 as a family reunion as her older brother was living in the country. [1] She is part of the hazaras. [1]
Khavari and some friends founded the organisation ”Ung i Sverige”, they received attention after a sitdown strike in 2017 in support of Afghan refugees and them not being deported back to Afghanistan. [2]
Khavari became the groups spokesperson, and the strike lasted for 58 days between 6 August to 2 October 2017. [3] [4] [5]
In 2018, her book ”Jag stannar till slutet” was published. [6] In 2023, she presented her own episode of Sommar i P1 at Sveriges Radio telling about her life and work. [7]

Afghan diaspora refers to the Afghan people that reside and work outside of Afghanistan. They include natives and citizens of Afghanistan who have immigrated to other countries. The majority of the diaspora has been formed by Afghan refugees since the start of the Soviet–Afghan War in 1979; the largest numbers temporarily reside in Iran. As stateless refugees or asylum seekers, they are protected by the well-established non-refoulement principle and the U.N. Convention Against Torture. The ones having at least one American parent are further protected by United States laws.
Erika Maria Grahm is a Swedish retired ice hockey forward and current general manager of Brynäs IF Dam in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). During her playing career, she was a two-time Olympian with the Swedish national ice hockey team. Fateme Ekhtesari, also Fatemeh Ekhtesari, is an Iranian poet. Ekhtesari lived in Karaj and she writes in Persian. In 2013, she appeared at the poetry festival in Gothenburg. After she arrived back in Iran she was imprisoned and later released on bail. Her verdict came in 2015 when she was sentenced to 99 lashes and 11.5 years imprisonment for crimes against the Iranian government, for immoral behaviour and blasphemy.
