The Federal Ministry of Justice is the legal arm of the Federal Government of Nigeria, primarily concerned with bringing cases before the judiciary that are initiated or assumed by the government. [1] The headquarters of the organisation are located in the Maitama district, Abuja. [2]

Organisation

It is headed by the Attorney General of the federation who also serves as the Minister of Justice. The Attorney General is appointed by the President, and is assisted by a Permanent Secretary, who is a career civil servant. As of August 2023, the Attorney General is Lateef Fagbemi. [3]

Moyosore Jubril OnigbanjoSAN is a Nigerian lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He has served as attorney general and commissioner for justice of Lagos State since 2019.

The 2023 Zamfara State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Zamfara State, concurrent with elections to the Zamfara State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Bello Matawalle has been renominated by his party and was defeated by Dauda Lawal of PDP on 18th of March 2023.
