Caedmon's Call is a contemporary Christian band which fused traditional folk with world music and alternative rock. They were composed of Cliff Young, Derek Webb, Danielle Young (vocals), Garett Buell (percussion), Jeff Miller, Todd Bragg (drums), and Josh Moore.

She Must and Shall Go Free is the first solo studio album by the singer-songwriter Derek Webb following his 2003 departure from Caedmon's Call. Named for the last line of a 175-year-old hymn written by William Gadsby, according to Webb, the album "is an emphatic statement about the liberation and ultimate security of the people of God -- the church." A result of Webb's questioning his role in the "church" and its role in culture, it is a poignant and challenging look at what it means to pursue faith in today's church-laden culture.

The mostly Electronic album was a radical departure in style from the guitar-driven folk and rock for which he had become known. Themes on the album surround asking difficult questions of Christians on sexuality, race, and social justice. It was critically acclaimed and commercially successful, becoming Webb's first solo album to break into the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

He was a longtime member of the Grammy winning The Derek Trucks Band, became a bandleader of his own ensemble, the Yonrico Scott Band, and later worked with the Royal Southern Brotherhood, with Cyril Neville. The Great Commission is an American Christian hardcore band from Riverside, California. The band started making music in 2007. Their Original membership includes is Justin Singh, Angela Razo, D.J. Burr, Derek C, Matt B, & Chris Ryan. With members Christian, Nelson, Rodney and Solomon joining in as members left. The band released an independently made extended play, The Great Commission, in 2008. They signed to Strike First Records, where they released, And Every Knee Shall Bow, a studio album, in 2009. Their subsequent studio album, Heavy Worship, was released by Ain't No Grave Records, in 2011. The latest recording, Firework, an extended play, was released by Ain't No Grave Recordings, in 2012.
NoiseTrade was a global online audio and book direct-to-fan distribution platform. It was based in Nashville, Tennessee. It enables its users to upload original music and books and give away for free without digital rights management to anyone who provides at least an e-mail address and zip code. It was established by Derek Webb and artists he knew after he became one of the first major label artist to give his digital album away. Over 80,000 free copies were downloaded. He used those mailing addresses to book shows. After attendance at his shows had increased dramatically he decided other artists could benefit from the same idea. He decided that the data would be more valuable than money made selling digital albums. Artists upload music with their free account, and then anyone can download ZIP files of mp3 and album art, only requiring an e-mail address and zip-code or country code for an opt-in newsletter from the artist. The media can be shared using various social media or pay artists via a tip-jar. The site takes a 20% cut of the proceeds.
