Feroz Ahmed Khan is an Indian politician who has served as a Member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from the Zanskar Assembly constituency being associated with the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference since 2008 to 2014. Ladakh is a region administered by India as a union territory and constitutes an eastern portion of the larger Kashmir region that has been the subject of a dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947 and India and China since 1959. Ladakh is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region to the east,the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh to the south,both the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan to the west,and the southwest corner of Xinjiang across the Karakoram Pass in the far north. Kargil district is a district in Indian-administered Ladakh in the disputed Kashmir-region. It is one of the two districts comprising the Indian-administered union territory of Ladakh. The district headquarters are in the city of Kargil. The district is bounded by the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir to the west,the Pakistani-administered administrative territory of Gilgit–Baltistan to the north,Ladakh's Leh district to the east,and the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh to the south. Encompassing three historical regions known as Purig,Dras and Zanskar,the district lies to the northeast of the Great Himalayas and encompasses the majority of the Zanskar Range. Its population inhabits the river valleys of the Dras,Suru,Wakha Rong,and Zanskar.
The Jammu &Kashmir National Panthers Party is a socialist and secular state political party in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,India. The party was founded on 23 March 1982 by husband and wife couple Prof. Bhim Singh and Jay Mala,Its aim is to "demolish corruption,communalism,criminalization,drug menace" and to establish a real democracy through ultimate revolution. Jay Mala was an Indian journalist,politician,advocate and social activist. She was a senior advocate of the Supreme Court of India,who filed over 600 cases and won each one,including a 1985 landmark case where she sued the State of Jammu and Kashmir changing tort law in India. Mala was co-founder of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) in 1982. On 7 May 2022 she became Chairperson of the Panthers Party Working Committee,and was de facto president of Panthers Party from 31 May 2022 to 4 April 2023.

Gool Arnas Assembly constituency is one of the 87 constituencies in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir a north state of India. Gool Arnas is also part of Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency. Gool Arnas was not a constituency until 1995 when it was created by way of delimitation. In fact the Arnas constituency was bifurcated into two parts- Gool Arnas and Gulabgarh.

The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh(sic) is the governing authority of the Indian union territory of Ladakh and its two districts. The Administration is led by a Lieutenant Governor appointed by the President of India who acts on behalf of the central Government of India. Ladakh does not have an elected legislative assembly. The two districts of Ladakh both elect their own autonomous district council-the Leh Autonomous Hill development council and the Kargil Autonomous Hill development Council,which have competence over a range of domestic affairs.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali is an Indian politician and former cabinet minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He is an Advocate by profession and was part of the 11th and 12th Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from Darhal constituency. He is a second-generation politician whose father Chowdhary Mohmmad Hussain was a renowned politician in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Zulfkar has also served as Cabinet Minister under the Chief Ministership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti 2015 to 2018. He was associated with Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party and served as district chief of the party for district Rajouri 2003 to 2013. He resigned from the PDP and became one of the founding member of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party. Presently Vice President of the party. Ali has been Honoured with Best Legislature 2012. As a Cabinet Minister,Ali headed various portfolios. Zulfkar also implemented the national food security act (NFSA) in the state and launched a food for poor scheme (MMSFES).

Nimmu–Padum–Darcha road (NPDR) or Zanskar Highway is a road under construction between the Indian union territory of Ladakh and the state of Himachal Pradesh,passing through the region of Zanskar. It connects Nimmu in the Indus Valley to Padum,the capital of Zanskar,to Darcha village in Lahul and Spiti. It provides an alternative to the Leh–Manali Highway in linking Ladakh with the rest of India. It is being built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of the Indian army. Construction of road is expected to be completed by late 2023. The already completed Atal tunnel and the proposed unidirectional-twin-tube total-4-lane Shingo La Tunnel which is expected to be completed by 2025 will provide all weather connectivity and reduce the Manali to Kargil distance by 522 km.
Mubarak Ahmad Gul,also known as Mubarak Gul,is an Indian politician and a former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from Eidgah constituency. Syed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi is an Indian politician who has served as a Member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from the Zanskar Assembly constituency since 2014 to 2017 being an Independent candidate,later joined Bharatiya Janata Party.
Elections were held in October 2023 for the 26 seats of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council,Kargil. This was also the first election conducted in the union territory of Ladakh since its split from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019.
