The girls' hockey5s event at the 2018 African Youth Games in Algiers was held at the Stade Ferhani from 19 to 26 July 2018. [1] The tournament served as a direct qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games, with the winner, runner-up and third placed team qualifying.

Format

The six teams will be placed into one group. The top four teams advance to the semifinals to determine the winner in a knockout system. The bottom two teams play against each other for 5th and 6th place.

Twelve teams qualified for the men's field hockey at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Twelve teams qualified for the women's field hockey at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Each of the Continental Champions from five confederations received an automatic berth. Japan as the host nation qualified automatically. In addition, the remaining six nations will be determined by an Olympic qualification event. As hosts Japan also won the Asian Games title, a seventh quota place was added to the Olympic qualification event.

The 2022 Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup is the ninth edition of the Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, the biennial women's under-21 field hockey world championship organized by the International Hockey Federation.

The 2022 Women's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations was the eighth edition of the Women's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of Africa organised by the African Hockey Federation. In February 2021 it was announced that the tournament would be held alongside the men's tournament at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra, Ghana from 17 to 23 January 2022.

The 2023 Women's Hockey Africa Qualifier for All Africa Games will be a series of 1 qualification events for the 2023 African Games in Accra, Ghana. The tournaments will be held in Zimbabwe between August - September 2022. The winners of each tournament will qualify for the 2023 Africa Games and African Olympic Qualifier.
