Fiesole School of Music

The Fiesole School of Music (Italian : Scuola di Musica di Fiesole) is a music school in Fiesole, Italy. It was founded by Piero Farulli (it) in 1974. [1]

It presents an annual New Year's Day concert at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. [2]

A premier institution at the Fiesole School of Music is the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, the national youth orchestra of Italy.

As of 2008 violinist Pavel Vernikov was tutor at the school, and Maria Kouznetsova one of his students. [2]

The Quartetto Italiano was a string quartet founded in Reggio Emilia in 1945. They made their debut in 1945 in Carpi when all four players were still in their early 20s. They were originally named Nuovo Quartetto Italiano before dropping the "Nuovo" tag in 1951. They are particularly noted for their recording of the complete cycle of Beethoven string quartets, made between 1967 and 1975. The quartet disbanded in 1980.

Davide Zannoni is a composer of contemporary Classical music. He began his career playing drums in jazz clubs and later symphonic percussion with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra in Florence, Italy. He also pursued academic studies and earned a doctoral degree in Humanities from the University of Bologna, while studying composition privately in Florence. After moving to New York, he received a master's degree in Music from Queens College.

Mariana Sîrbu, also credited as Sârbu, was a Romanian classical violinist and academic teacher, who made an international career performing and recording. She was focused on chamber music, founding the Academica String Quartet in 1968, joining the Trio di Milano in 1985, and founding the Quartetto Stradivari in 1994. She was concertmaster of I Musici from 1993 to 2003. She became professor of violin at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig in Leipzig in 2002, gave international master classes and was juror for competitions of violin and chamber music.

The Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini, better known in English as the Florence Conservatory is a music conservatory in Florence, Italy. It is the only music conservatory in Tuscany, and is a national conservatory of music operated by the government of Italy. The school's premises are located in the Piazzale delle Belle Arti with its main entrance located at the address 2 Via degli Alfani. Originally called the Istituto Musicale when it was founded in 1849, it was later renamed the Istituto Musicale Luigi Cherubini in 1910, and then the Regio Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini di Firenze in 1923. Its present name was adopted after the dissolution of the Kingdom of Italy in 1946.
