Filosofia, ara! was founded in December 2015 in Catalonia. The Magazine is coordinated by Xavier Serra Besalú and Anna Sarsanedas Darnés, and draws inspiration from the publications Philosophie Magazine and Philosophy Now . [1] [2] It is published twice a year, and it aims primarily at high-school, university and post-university students, teachers, and other people interested in philosophy. The first issue was dedicated to the philosophers included in the syllabus of the History of Philosophy Exam of the Catalan University Entrance Exam in 2015 (Plato, René Descartes, John Locke, John Stuart Mill and Friedrich Nietzsche). Each issue of the magazine includes a number of articles dedicated to a specific topic. It also includes other sections with general articles, reviews, documentation, translations, accounts of successful educational experiences, an area devoted to young authors (the student's balcony), and a back cover that illustrates the vitality of philosophy in Catalonia. Catalan, known in the Valencian Community and Carche as Valencian, is a Western Romance language. It is the official language of Andorra, and an official language of two autonomous communities in eastern Spain: Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. It is also an official language in Valencia, where it is called Valencian. It has semi-official status in the Italian comune of Alghero, and it is spoken in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of France and in two further areas in eastern Spain: the eastern strip of Aragon and the Carche area in the Region of Murcia. The Catalan-speaking territories are often called the Països Catalans or "Catalan Countries".

By the 11th century, the Catalan language was present in several feudal documents. Catalan was present throughout the Mediterranean by the 15th century. At that time, the city of Valencia was thriving.
Ara is a Catalan daily Spanish newspaper that began publication on 28 November 2010, coinciding with the 2010 Catalan regional election. It is the third most read daily newspaper in Catalonia, and the most read daily newspaper written exclusively in the Catalan language. Its regional edition, Ara Balears, is the most popular Catalan language newspaper on the Balearic Islands. ARA's online edition had nearly 3.2M visitors in September 2017, making it the most popular online newspaper in Catalan language.
José María Ferrater Mora was a Spanish philosopher, essayist and writer. He is considered the most prominent Catalan philosopher of the 20th-century and was the author of over 35 books, including a four-volume Diccionario de filosofía and Being and Death: An Outline of Integrationist Philosophy (1962). Subjects he worked on include ontology, history of philosophy, metaphysics, anthropology, the philosophy of history and culture, epistemology, logic, philosophy of science, and ethics. He also directed several films.
Democrats of Catalonia is a Christian-democratic, pro-Catalan independence political party in Catalonia founded in July 2015 from a split in Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC). Its members included the then-Speaker of the Catalan parliament Núria de Gispert and former UDC president Joan Rigol. The party has received accusations of xenophobia for its controversial statements against Spaniards and for having ties with xenophobic organizations.
Jordi Sànchez i Picanyol is a Spanish political activist from Catalonia, who was president of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) between May 2015 and November 2017.
Jaume Aiguader i Miró was a Spanish medical doctor, writer, social activist, politician and Catalan nationalist. He was one of the founders of the Republican Left of Catalonia political party. He became Mayor of Barcelona, and was a national deputy during the Second Spanish Republic. He was Minister of Labor and Social Assistance in the government of Juan Negrín during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). After the fall of the Republic, he died in exile in Mexico.
Neus Català i Pallejà was a member of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War and was a survivor of the concentration camp of Ravensbrück. She is one of many Catalans who survived internment in the Nazi concentration camp system.
Bonaventura Gassol i Rovira, known as Ventura Gassol, was a Catalan poet, playwright and politician. A nationalist, he was prominent member of the Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya.

The Catalan European Democratic Party, initially branded as the Catalan Democratic Party, is a liberal political party in Spain that supports Catalan independence. The party was founded in Barcelona on 10 July 2016. PDeCAT is regarded as the successor party to Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC), which for most its history was a constituent party of the Convergence and Union (CiU) political formation.
Joaquim Torra i Pla, known as Quim Torra, is a Catalan lawyer and journalist from Spain. He served as President of the Government of Catalonia from 17 May 2018 to 28 September 2020, when the Supreme Court of Spain confirmed a court ruling by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia condemning him for disobeying the Central Electoral Board during the April 2019 general election, leading to his disqualification from office.
Marta Ángela Mata Garriga was a Spanish politician and pedagogue who promoted the renovation of public schools during Spain's transition to democracy in 1978, and defended secular schools. She was the founder of the Associació de Mestres Rosa Sensat and wrote numerous books and articles on reading and writing didactics, pedagogy, educational policy, and children's stories.
Diana Riba i Giner is a Catalan politician from Spain and a member of the European Parliament for Spain.
Casal Català de Brussel·les is a nonprofit social organization of Belgium. It belongs to the worldwide network of Catalan Casals and seeks to build cohesion of Catalan citizens and Catalan speakers that live in this European state, as well as to promote the social and cultural reality of Catalonia. It was founded in 1930 and given its location in Brussels, the European capital of politics, it also aims to defend Catalan identity and to project Catalan culture internationally.
