Final Embrace is a photograph showing two victims in the rubble of the April 2013 collapse of the eight storey Rana Plaza building in Savar Upazila, Bangladesh. [1] The photograph, taken by freelance photographer Taslima Akhter, was awarded third prize in the World Press Photo (single) in the "spot news category". [2] [3] [4] [5] It was also selected among Time magazine's "Top 10 Photos of 2013". [6]
Akhter is a member of Nari Sanghati (a women's welfare organization), and a member of leftist political group Gana Sanghati Andolon. She works as a teacher at Pathshala, a school of photography in Dhaka. [7]

The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 was the fifth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20, an international Twenty20 cricket tournament, that took place in Bangladesh from 16 March to 6 April 2014. It was played in three cities — Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. The International Cricket Council announced Bangladesh as host in 2010. This was the first ICC World Twenty20 where the use of Decision Review System (DRS) was implemented. It was the second consecutive time that an Asian country hosted the event, with Sri Lanka hosting the previous tournament in 2012. Sri Lanka won the 2014 tournament, beating India by 6 wickets in the final at Mirpur.

The Rana Plaza collapse was a structural failure that occurred on 24 April 2013 in the Savar Upazila of Dhaka District, Bangladesh, where an eight-storey commercial building called Rana Plaza collapsed. The search for the dead ended on 13 May 2013 with a death toll of 1,134. Approximately 2,500 injured people were rescued from the building. It is considered the deadliest accidental structural failure in modern human history, as well as the deadliest garment-factory disaster in history and the deadliest industrial accident in the history of Bangladesh.

Taslima Akhter is a Bangladeshi activist and photographer. She is a graduate of Dhaka University, as well as the photography school Pathshala. She is a member of several activist organizations. While documenting the Rana Plaza collapse in 2013, she took a photograph of a woman and a man who had died in each other's arms, which became emblematic of the incident.
