Finn Myrvang (born June 20, 1937) is a Norwegian historian, folklore collector, and associate professor[ where? ].
Myrvang was born in at Bjørnskinn in Andøy Municipality, Nordland county. [1] [2] Until 2004 he headed the Place Name Project in Nordland, [1] which has registered over 180,000 place names in Nordland. [3] He has been a place name consultant for the Language Council of Norway and the Norwegian Mapping and Cadastre Authority. Myrvang has also published historical articles on Northern Norway, especially Hålogaland. He has also published several books on folklore and place names. [1] [2]

The airport is the civilian sector of Andøya Air Station and is operated by the state-owned Avinor. The airport consists of two runways, 2,468 and 1,672 meters long, and served 48,254 passengers in 2012. Widerøe operates public service obligation (PSO) flights to Bodø, Tromsø, Stokmarknes and Harstad/Narvik, while Norwegian Air Shuttle operates seasonal flights to Oslo.
The Andøy Bridge is a cantilever road bridge that crosses the Risøysundet strait between the islands of Andøya and Hinnøya in Andøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The northern end of the bridge is located in the village of Risøyhamn. Forfjorden is a fjord on the west side of the island of Hinnøya in the Vesterålen archipelago in Nordland county, Norway. The fjord lies along the border between Sortland Municipality and Andøy Municipality. The Norwegian County Road 82 follows the shoreline around the whole fjord. The coast around the Forfjorden has about 70 inhabitants. The fjord is located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northeast of the town of Sortland and about 70 kilometres (43 mi) south of Andenes. The name is derived from its surrounding pine forest, as "Furu" and "Forra" translates to pine tree. The 7-kilometre (4.3 mi) long fjord flows to the west and joins the Gavlfjorden along with the Risøysundet and Sortlandssundet straits.

It is one of the churches for the Andøy parish which is part of the Vesterålen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal style in 1843 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian Heinrich Grosch. The church seats about 230 people.

Vesterålen District Court was a district court in Nordland county, Norway. The court was based in the town of Sortland. The court existed until 2021. It served the Vesterålen district in the northern part of the county. It included the municipalities of Andøy, Bø i Vesterålen, Hadsel, Sortland, and Øksnes. Cases from this court could be appealed to Hålogaland Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge Hans Edvard Roll. This court employed a chief judge, one other judge, and two prosecutors.
Kjell-Børge Freiberg is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party, formerly for the Progress Party who served as Minister of Petroleum and Energy from 2018 to 2019. He was also an MP for Nordland from 2017 to 2021. He currently serves as mayor of Hadsel Municipality since 2023, having done so previously from 2007 to 2015.
Museum Nord is a Norwegian museum consortium for the northern part of Nordland county, including the districts of Lofoten, Vesterålen, and Ofoten. The museum is set up as a foundation and was established on December 13, 2002. It opened in 2004 and it is one of three museum consortia in Nordland; the other two are the Helgeland Museum and the Nordland Museum.
