Øksnes is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the northwestern part of the large island of Langøya, which is a part of the traditional region of Vesterålen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Myre. Other villages in Øksnes include Alsvåg, Barkestad, Breidstrand, Nyksund, Strengelvåg, and Stø.

The Andøy Bridge is a cantilever road bridge that crosses the Risøysundet strait between the islands of Andøya and Hinnøya in Andøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The northern end of the bridge is located in the village of Risøyhamn. The bridge is 750 metres (2,460 ft) long, the main span is 110 metres (360 ft), and the maximum clearance to the sea is 30 metres (98 ft). The bridge has 21 spans.
Bjørnskinn is a village in Andøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village of Bjørnskinn lies along the southern part of the island of Andøya, about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) northwest of the larger village of Risøyhamn. The village is the site of Bjørnskinn Church which serves the southern part of the municipality. The village was also the administrative centre of the old municipality of Bjørnskinn which existed from 1924 until its dissolution in 1964.

Forfjorden is a fjord on the west side of the island of Hinnøya in the Vesterålen archipelago in Nordland county, Norway. The fjord lies along the border between Sortland Municipality and Andøy Municipality. The Norwegian County Road 82 follows the shoreline around the whole fjord. The coast around the Forfjorden has about 70 inhabitants. The fjord is located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northeast of the town of Sortland and about 70 kilometres (43 mi) south of Andenes. The name is derived from its surrounding pine forest, as "Furu" and "Forra" translates to pine tree. The 7-kilometre (4.3 mi) long fjord flows to the west and joins the Gavlfjorden along with the Risøysundet and Sortlandssundet straits.

Vesterålen District Court was a district court in Nordland county, Norway. The court was based in the town of Sortland. The court existed until 2021. It served the Vesterålen district in the northern part of the county. It included the municipalities of Andøy, Bø i Vesterålen, Hadsel, Sortland, and Øksnes. Cases from this court could be appealed to Hålogaland Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge Hans Edvard Roll. This court employed a chief judge, one other judge, and two prosecutors.
Vikeid is a flat isthmus on the island of Langøya in the municipality of Sortland in Nordland county, Norway. The village of Vik lies on the east side of the isthmus and the village of Frøskeland lies on the west side. The isthmus has the Eidsfjorden to the west and the Sortlandsundet strait in the east. The isthmus almost divides Langøya in two. To the north lies the northwestern part of the municipality of Sortland, and further north the municipality of Øksnes. The southwest part of the municipality of Sortland lies south of the isthmus. The Eidsfjorden and the western part of the isthmus belonged to the municipality of Hadsel until 1963, when it was transferred to Sortland.
The Norwegian Coastal Express Museum is located at Richard Withs plass in Stokmarknes in Nordland county—a natural location because the Coastal Express was "born" here. The museum is operated by the Coastal Express Museum Association and it includes the former coastal express ship MS Finnmarken from the Vesterålen Steamship Company. The museum was officially opened by Transport Minister Kjell Opseth on July 2, 1993—the 100th anniversary of the first coastal express voyage. The museum then received its premises in the old administration building of the Vesterålen Steamship Company. In 1999 the museum was relocated to a new location in the Coastal Express Building next to the Coastal Express dock.
