Fiqifuliye is a town in the Fiqifuliye District of Sanaag region of Somaliland. Inhabited by the Nalaye Axmed branch of Dhulbahante Clan[ citation needed ]

Recent History

On June 1, 1993, a meeting between the Habar Yoonis and the Dhulbahante clans was held in Fiqifuliye, and the Habar Yoonis clan agreed to invite the Dhulbahante clan to the upcoming clan meeting in Erigavo. [2]

In July 2013, in Fiqifuliye, more than 600 militiamen who had previously been on the Khatumo State side announced that they would join the Somaliland army. [3] [4]

In March 2016, the Puntland Drought Relief Committee (based in Bosaso) dispatched a water truck as a first aid response to the drought around Fiqifuliye. [5]

In December 2018, Somaliland's Sanaag Governor Maxamed Axmed Caalin (Tiimbaro) visited Fiqifuliye and promised to initiate government projects. [6]

In October 2020, a hospital was fundeded in Fiqifuliye with donations from the diaspora. The Somaliland Ministry of Health is considering providing funding. [7]

Demographics

The city of Fiqifuliye is primarily inhabited by the Dhulbahante specifically the Naalaye Axmed subclan.[ citation needed ]

Garad Jama Garad Ali is the 21st supreme traditional clan Sultan (Garaad) of the Dhulbahante. He has significant influence in Somalia’s ssc khaatumo. When the war was ongoing between somaliland and ssc khatumo forces he inspired many young people of the Dhulbahante clan to join the war calling on what Somaliland is doing unfair to them. He was also one of the reasons of the defeat of somaliland which made them lose control of the eastern part of sool. He was also the general intellectual of the Dhulbahante tribe.He was crowned in Las Anod City on 22 May 2006,his inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of people including senior politicians from Puntland administration and the government of the Republic of Somaliland.

Jidali is a town in the Sanaag region of Somaliland.

Ahmed Abdi Mohamud Sugulle "Habsade" is a Puntland and Somaliland politician. He was a decorated Colonel in the Somali Armed Forces and the second in command of the Somali Custodial Corps equivalent to that of the Italian Arma dei Carabinieri but the Custodial Corps fall under the Ministry of the Interior and are part of the Police Force. A politician and respected elder later in life (he was instrumental in the founding of Somaliland and became the Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives. In 1998, he was appointed Minister of the Interior of Puntland but was dismissed in 2007 after a conflict with Mohamud Muse Hersi, who became President of Puntland in 2006. In 2007, he brought Somaliland troops into Las Anod, leading to Somaliland's effective control of the Sool region. He served as various Somaliland Ministers of state from 2008. In 2014, Abdiweli Gaas became President of Puntland and he come back to Puntland.

Garad Abdullah Garaf Soofe Durraan, Garad, of the Ahmed Garad, the second most senior chief of the Farah Garad branch of the Dhulbahante clan of the Somali people. He was one of the elders of the Dhulbahante clan. In his later years, he often attended meetings as a representative of the Buuhoodle.
