Firas Khoury is a Palestinian film director and screenwriter. [2] [3] He is best known for directing the feature film Alam and short film Maradona's Legs. [4] [5] [6]

Career

Firas graduated from Tel Aviv University with a BFA in Film. [7] In 2008, he attended the Berlinale Talent Campus. [8] He taught cinematic expression at the Freedom Theatre in Jenin Camp. [9] He is the founder of Falastinema Group, which presents screenings and cinema activities throughout Palestine. In 2010, his short film Yellow Mums, won the Best Short Film at the Jerusalem Film Festival. [10] His short film Maradona's Legs, premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2019. [11]

Firas wrote and directed his debut feature Alam, which had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, and he won the Golden Pyramid from the Cairo International Film Festival for best film. [12] [13]

Hisham Zreiq, also spelled Zrake, is a Palestinian Christian-Israeli Independent filmmaker, poet, animator and visual artist. He began working in computer art in 1994, and in 1996 started exhibiting his work in galleries and museums. In 2007 he filmed his first documentary, The Sons of Eilaboun, and in 2008 he created the short film Just Another Day, dealing with the life of Arabs living in western world after September 11 terror attacks. He uses his poetry and visual art in his films, as in Just Another Day, and was a member of the Culture Unplugged film festival panel. In 2018 Zreiq contributed to the book An Oral History of the Palestinian Nakba by writing a chapter based on the interviews from his documentary The Sons of Eilaboun. In 2023 he started a music project called 'Goddess Asherah'

The DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF) is a film festival in Washington, D.C. Launched in 1999, DCIFF exhibits features, animation, shorts and documentaries from around the world, focusing on cutting-edge ideas, new visions and advances in the craft of filmmaking. The festival hosts world premieres, seminars, and workshops, and also sponsors discussions on topics that impact independent filmmakers, in particular the annual "On the Hill" hearing hosted by the Congressional Entertainment Caucus. <i>Ranas Wedding</i> 2002 film

Rana's Wedding, also known as Jerusalem, Another Day, is a Palestinian film released in 2002. It was produced in partnership with the Netherlands and funded by the Palestinian Film Foundation. The film was directed by Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad in Jerusalem. This was the first film by a Palestinian film director to reach the Cannes Film Festival, and was selected for screening at the International Critics' Week in 2002. Rana's Wedding presents the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through the couples' marriage drama, using romance and dark comedy to portray a vivid image of a Palestinian's daily struggle towards living a somewhat normal life.

Deborah Chow is a Canadian filmmaker, television director and screenwriter known for her independent films and her work on Star Wars television.
