It owns 570 square kilometers (220 sq mi) of estate in Fosnes and Nærøy in Norway. The company operates four power stations with a combined power production of 8 MW and an average annual energy production of 60 GWh. [1] It operates 120 square kilometers (46 sq mi) of productive forest, as well as agriculture and wilderness management, such as hunting and fishing. [2]

History

In 1860, privileges for the forestry were abolished, and Salsbrukets Interessentselskab was given access to Salsgodset, a 418-square-kilometer (161 sq mi) along Salsvatnet in estate in Fosnes. Five years later, Albert Petter Severin Collett, aged 23, moved to Salsbruket as a representatives for Christiania Bank og Kredittkasse. Salsbrukets Interessentselskab was nearly bankrupt. Collett took over the company in 1871, and at the same time bought several other estates in the area, in the then-municipalities of Kolvereid and Foldereid. Collett's company started purchasing part of Bangdalens Interessentselskab, which owned estates in Klinga, Stod, Kvam and Namdalseid. By 1894, Collett had bought the entire company. All sawmill activities were concentrated to Bangsund in 1898; however, in 1905, a pulp mill was built in Salsbruket, which established the economic foundation for the village. [2]

Kolvereid is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The 433-square-kilometre (167 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed the central part of what is now the municipality of Nærøy in Trøndelag county. The municipality included both sides of the central part of the Folda fjord. The administrative centre was the village of Kolvereid where the Kolvereid Church is located.

Foldereid is a former municipality in the northern part of the old Nord-Trøndelag county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1886 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed the area surrounding the inner part of the Folda fjord, the Innerfolda in what is now the municipalities of Nærøy and Høylandet in Trøndelag county. The village of Foldereid, where the Foldereid Church is located, was the administrative centre of the municipality.

After Albert Collett, the company was taken over by his sons Johan (b. 1874), Oscar (b. 1877) and Axel (b. 1880). [3] In 1980, Bangsundbruket was sold to the state. On 25 October 1985, the pulp mill in Salsbruket burned down and was not rebuilt. [2]

Axel Collett was a Norwegian landowner, timber merchant and sawmill owner. He was a co-owner and actively involved in the management of Firma Albert Collett, a firm established by his father, which was and is one of the largest private land owners of Norway. The company owned 1,200,000 decares (1,200 km2) of land in Namdalen, and built Salsbruket Tresliperi, a sawmill, of which he also served as director.

The Holmestrand–Hvittingfoss Line or HVB is an abandoned railway between Holmestrand to Hvittingfoss in Norway. It consisted of two sections: a 13.4-kilometer (8.3 mi) line from Holmestrand to Hillestad and a 10.4-kilometer (6.5 mi) section from Hof to Hvittingfoss. The two parts were connected by a 6 kilometers (4 mi) section of the Tønsberg–Eidsfoss Line. At Holmestrand Station, the line connected to the Vestfold Line of the Norwegian State Railways. HVB was opened on 30 September 1902 and closed on 1 June 1938. The main purpose of the line was the transport of wood pulp at Hvittingfoss, although it was also used for passenger transport until 1931.

Collett is a Norwegian family of English origin, descended from English-born merchant James Collett, who settled in Christiania in 1683. He married Karen Leuch, and died as the richest man in the city. The firm he founded, Collett & Leuch, later renamed Collett & Søn, was continued for four generations until 1821. The family became part of the patriciate of Christiania in the 18th century. His descendants continued to play important roles in Norwegian history and owned several properties, such as Buskerud Manor, Store Ullevål Manor, Flateby, Økern Manor and Firma Albert Collett. Barentsburg Heliport, Heerodden is a private heliport located at Heerodden, serving the mining town of Barentsburg in Svalbard, Norway. The airport is owned and operated by Arktikugol, which also owns the company town. The airport features a 91-by-21-meter runway, two hangars and an administration building with a control tower.
